Hey. I've been shopping around for a new set of irons and a lot of people have recommended the CG2s to me. Is this a good set? Im a 10 handicap, hit the ball very high and hit a slight draw. Thanks

I think the CG2's are Clevelands best irons thus far, I wasn't a fan of the gold or reds. The CCM casting is an awesome process compared to most cast clubs I have hit, the clubs are super soft and almost feel forged. Top line is thin but not super-model thin. Club head size is smaller than normal, which I like. Very workable and I have seen brand new set going for as cheap as 225.00. As far as ballooning the ball, the heads won't really influence that one way or the other but you might want to consider swapping out the stock TTDG's for something else.

Where I play: Mission Viejo CC and
long Beach Skylinks

I like them and have gamed them for a year (well the bottom half of the set). They hit on kind of a mid trajectory but you can definately keep them down if you need to. There is very little offset across the set so you will not have to worry about your draw becoming a hook. Actually they are very workable left and right to be as forgiving as they are.

Overall they are very accurate clubs as they set up square and are easy to align. They do have a soft feel that some call mushy when hit in the center. Mishits can definately be felt and they give a ton of feedback on those without pain or stinging to the hands. Mishits lose about a club in distance so they aren't as punishing as they look. They are not the most versatile clubs out of the rough once you get above the 6 iron though. The lofts are 1* stronger in the bottom of the set than most player's irons now. But those lofts can be tweaked. They don't have a forged feel but the don't have a cast feel either. I'm not all into the CMM propeganda, but honestly they are the softest cast irons I've ever hit. But they still hold up well in the bag. There are no bells and whistles on these irons. I guess you could say they are quite vanilla. They aren't especially long. They aren't flashy at all....unless your eye is attracted to subtlety. Good luck!

    • Day 7: got out my chipping net and worked on chipping in the living room for a solid 15 minutes. Worked on mostly low shots, but mixed in a couple of high shots as well.
    • Day 228 4-4 More hip/chest turn and wrist arching. Working on hinging wrist a bit later. Foam balls.
    • Day 27 (4 Apr 26) - Worked with grandson on basic pitches/punches in the back yard with varied irons/wedges.  Wrapped up the day rolling some putts on the 30’ carpet I can set up in the yard to give varied terrain - and this carpet rolls almost too easy. A great way to figure a read and know that pace has to be near perfect to get in the hole.
    • A bit of a struggle today.  Just some thoughts/musings.  For the backswing, it is like I am never going to be moving on from this. I don't know if I can ever get to the point where the backswing isn't like over 1.5 seconds in duration. Which is probably not ideal. I would like to get to the point where I can just fling the arms back and up.  I have to feel like my hands are going to hit my right thigh from P1 to P2. If not then they like to move 2-5 inches towards the ball from P1 to P2. Then it's just bad from there. This feeling is my hands not gaining much depth, just maintaining depth from set up. From the DTL view, the hands head towards the camera.  While I am doing that, hinge the crap out of the club with my wrist only. Hinge in a way that the club is pointing at the camera at P2.  From P2, lift the hands straight up. I can get here, and still roll the club inside and get it way too shallow.  With the downswing. There isn't much here. I still can't get the flow of this or the sequencing of this to line up. It doesn't help that hinging from P1 to P2 just throws off my entire timing as well.
    • Day 550 - 2026-04-04 Practiced in the sim at a club for awhile. Did a SW ladder and practiced for awhile with my 7I.
