Best deal I've ever seen in golf:

For those in Dallas, try Cedar Crest.

Site of the 1927 PGA championship won by Walter Hagen. Regular rate is $20, but you can get a frequent play card that will give you 8 rounds for 108 dollars, or $13.50 per round. You'll get a round in pretty quick too, because it's usually pretty empty. I've played a round in 3 hours, which is unheard of these days. Just my 2c, best value golf in the country.

lol man this is just depressing. I would kill to have that player card deal you talked about. Out here I get a casino employee rate, which is as big a discount that is offered out here. the cheapest I ever get is $50 bucks per round. And I play a minimum of twice a week ussually more. Just greens fees golf is an extra $500 + dollar a month bill for me. And thats not including balls, equipment etc.

DAM I shouldn't be complaining if the CHEAPEST you've paid is $50 lol. I'm complaining paying $40 max per round.

Are there any other sites similar to Golf Now, since none of those courses listed are near me. Virginia Beach.

Bow Creek isn't too expensive and they allow walking. Talk to Mike in the pro shop and ask him if there are any specials. He's a pretty nice guy and enjoys helping young folks get into the game. Owls Creek is kinda expensive for being a small, not very well maintained course.

I ended up getting a membership at Herons Ridge. It's pricier than some of the muni's, but in much better shape. The break even doesn't happen for me until about September, but I think it's worth it.

The only time its a little cheaper is in the middle of summer when its like 120*. Sometimes I can get away with $40 or so. But man its rough. I still play, but you have to be careful. I mean the heat out here in mid summer is a serious health hazard if you dont watch yourself

$40 is pretty decent. I save money during winter and then between April-September I spend about $2000 on golf. Completely worth it.

jermzkill, what college do you go to? I go to JMU and there are a bunch of courses close by. A free par 3, nine hole course in Bridgewater (only open march-october). And then Lakeview in Harrisonburg that offers student discounts, as well as a $200 student membership for a semester.

Alright I thought I was paying a lot because yesterday I paid the most I've ever paid to play. At my friends local course it was $39 with cart and that is about $12 more than I usually pay for 18 with a cart. That's a lot of money for me right now since I'm in college without a job.

$39?? In Scottsdale you couldnt play goofy-golf for $39

Arizona is one of the golf capitals (at least I would consider of the world). In the winter time to play an average course at twilight times is $70-$100!! I dont even want to count up the amount of money I spend on greens fee's/Club,balls every year....SCARY. You guys got it good if your paying less than $50 a round in the winter time for a decent course.

I have a 18 hole par 3 course 5 mins from my house, $7.50 for all 18.

Alot of times I just go shoot 9 by myself at normal lenght courses...$12 for 9+cart.

Also, you can golf without being on the course..Go whack some irons around a empty grass field, make up little games/challenges, and things like that.

If your looking to play a lot of golf I would look at memberships at public courses. They are usually your best deal for those looking to get in a LOT of golf during a season. The down side is you play the same course over and over. If your looking to just play occasionally or once a week and you have a golf buddy then I would look at a regional golf card. Some of them give you a good break such as "buy one get one free", but many of these cards are useless unless you have at least a twosome. I am a member at a local public course and I have a membership for my son and I. It costs me about $1100 for the year and we play at least 3 times a week on average. I usually have covered my cost of the membership by June if you compare it to paying every time you play. We play our home course pretty much all season until the fall when many courses offer fall specials we will venture out and play some different courses.

I pay around $60 - $70 (these are courses that charge $130 and up for tourists)

The courses that offer student rates I pay around $40

A lot of people do the "x # adults and x # of juniors" and divide the cost out between the group too..unfortunately my old looking arse couldn't pass for a junior :(

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
