ok heres the story. i want to buy 54* and 58* wedges. i went to Dick's today to look and i was disppointed to see that the CG10 for $50 sale was over and that they are now $90. i was comparing the CG10 to the CG14 which is still $110. the guy working at Dick's told me that it would be well worth my effort to spend the extra $20 and get the CG14. but i figured this guy was just trying to get me to buy the more expensive item. a little while later, he told me that the "zip groves" in the CG14 are going to be illegal on the PGA Tour in 2010. that didnt bother me, but he also said that they would be illegal in other tournaments as well. i have asperations of playing on my high school golf team next year as a junior and i dont want to buy wedges that will be illegal. so,

1) in your opinion, are the CG14s worth the extra $20?
2) is the any validity to zip groves becoming illegal? and if they are illegal on the PGA Tour, would i be able to use them in a high school golf match?

if youve gotten this far, thank you for reading and any and all advice is greatly appreciated

zip grooves are a joke, they offer absolutley nothing that will be to your advantage, get the cg10's, the zip grooves are a marketing gimmick. Honestly if your buying 2 wedges, the 40$ extra for the cg14's is not worth it.

I had a cg12 50 degree wedge TERRIBLE it flew way to high it went way to high went maybe 2 yards past my 54 vokey. Had no spin just a complete joke of a club. id go with the cg 10 also look at the nike sv tour there only $90 for a really good wedge

I had a look at the cg14 and cg10 a few days ago. They look very nice but just felt a bit too heavy and cumbersome in my hands. I prefer my Nike SV tour wedges, or go with the vokeys.

I don't think the CG14s are an improvement over the CG10s. In fact, I prefer the CG-12s to both of them. The "zip" technology isn't very zippy -- if you're looking for extra spin just get a Vokey.
