SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Charles Barkley was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol early Wednesday.
An officer with a task force that targets drunken driving saw the former NBA star run a stop sign about 1:30 a.m., Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler said. Barkley was in Scottsdale's Old Town area, a trendy spot in the Phoenix area.

We'll have to wait a few weeks to see how this plays out. He refused the FST's and the PAS breath test and went with blood (which is smart actually). This means he gets to go home and wait at least six weeks before he gets a court subpoena, plenty of time to work up a defense. Not that I'm siding with him, that's just how it plays out. He'll plead to reckless driving or something of that nature.

Well being an Officer in Arizona.......it is in most agencies policies to do blood now (more accurate). Even if you refuse to give blood we can just get a search warrant and get it any way. If you refuse your license will be suspended for at least a year, and if you consent its only 3 months......BTW, DUI in AZ is not plead down to reckless (Extremely rare).....he will probably just get the less of the DUI statute. He looked HAMMER'D though from the pics...lol.

If you ever get pulled over for a DUI, I wouldnt submit to FST's, but submit to the blood test (and your attorney will probably tell you that too.....)

Damn I can only get a search warrant for blood here Ca. if they were involved in a T/C or if it's their fourth DUI (which is a felony). Like in AZ though if they refuse it's an automatic year suspension. We still have to give the option of a breath test but if they choose that we have to notify them that unlike blood, we can't save a sample of their "breath" to test again later should they or their attorney choose to do so. I agree about not submitting to the FST's if I ever got popped for duce I wouldn't submit to them, just a blood test so I could get cited and released. Things are so different state to state, I'm just glad I'm not a CHiPie, I hate cvc stuff.

He's gonna hate this.....although I do think that he'd benefit tremendously from getting drunk prior to teeing it up in some of the pro-am tourneys.


Maybe a twelve pack would get that hitch outa his swing....sure couldn't hurt his game.


I imagine that there were many arrests for drunken driving on New Years...along with him. He's an idiot. You'd think with all celebrity status he could arrange for a designated driver/ limo/ cab...something.
