What are the best and worst parts of your game? How do you cope or deal with them? How do you plan on improving this year?

Best: Chipping/pitching. I just get the ball near the hole...enough said.

Worst: Putting. I can't hit a putt. I'm fine with shorter putts (4 feet and in). I just don't have any confidence with longer putts (20+ feet). I also have been having trouble making shorter birdie putts (inside 10 ft). Whenever I hit a GIR, I'm usually outside of 20 ft. I either blow the putt by the hole 6 feet or baby it to the hole 6 feet short. 3 putts galore. Recently, I have been working on my stroke and my confidence with it. I usually have the right line, but my speed is terrible. Chipping the ball to 3 feet is really nice...GIRs kill me!

I hate this game sometimes.

The best part of my game is probably driving. I drive it long enough and almost always in fairway. Bad drives are usually just off fairway.

Worst - if this had been a question 2 months ago I would have said approach shots, but I've recently found a swing that really works. Now I have to say probably putting. I have always been a really good putter, but the last few months I can't make anything and I'm leaving myself 2nd putts that are way too long. I went from one 3 putt maybe every 3-4 rounds to 3-4 3 putts per round now. I'm almost always on line, just with really really bad speed.

For me, it depends on the season... For instance, when it is winter, I struggle with my putting, because I get too tense due to the cold in my hands. When it is too warm, I get all sticky, because I sweat a lot, and I start reverse pivoting, so I struggle with every long shot. I usualy have bad chippind/ pitching days/ weeks during fall or spring.

On the other hand, during winter I'm hitting the ball the best of the year, during spring/ auttum, my putting starts to come around, and at the summer, I really practice a lot of chipping and the rest of the short game so that is what saves me...

Mainly, my biggest problem is probably chipping from anywhere between 30 feet and 50 feet from the hole. I just can ssem to get the ball roling where I want it to be... My best point is however, putting. Even though I tend to strugle a lot with it, it saves me very often...

Best for me would be driving and putting. I'm not super long but I'm usually in the fairway. As for putting, I feel I'm very good at lagging long puts and make most inside 5-6 feet.

Worst for me would be mid-irons and chipping. Unfortunately, I go though bouts of the chipping yips and it drives me nuts.

Well last week it was my iron approach shots and the week before it was putting and the week before that it was pitching and I think I was spraying it all over the place off the tee not long before that... So pretty much everything in a ever changing cycle

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
