To all of the equipment junkies out there...what is the most addicting piece of golf equipment for you? Are drivers your thing? Do you love hybrids? Putters?

For me, I love wedges. I always have impulses to buy new ones. I have impulses to buy used ones, too. I don't need anymore, but I can't stop looking at wedges.

For me, it used to be Drivers, then I went through faze with hybrids. Now I have to play with irons (especially the few models I would like to buy). I will go to golf store and hit on the simulator for sometimes close to an hour, just hitting demo or used clubs. Just today I was in my local Golf Galaxy and spent about 45 minutes hitting Mizuno MP-52, MP-57, MP-62 and MP-67. I go almost every weekend and do this, without ever buying much of anything (because I do not have the money for a big purchase). My little buying habit is usually kept to new models of golf balls.

The problem with wedges for me is that you can't really test them very well on simulator, so I'm less tempted to even look at them.

I am in the early stages of addiction to 8iron-->LW (short game clubs). I keep browsing, but didn't buy anything until today. I bought a MacGregor MacTech NVG2 9 iron from globalgolf.com to replace my current one. My SW is 8 years old, but I still love it. In Texas, we get a ton of wind with most wedge shots going into the wind, thus, I don't need the fantastic back spin you get with the newer wedges. However, I am getting addicted to "feel" and forged short irons/wedges.

I'm most fascinated with wedges. But I can't keep a set of irons in my bag for any length of time. That's a very bad thing. The set in my bag now has been there just a little over a year. I think that is the longest of my last 4 or 5 sets.

The truth is, iron play is the weakest part of my game. Rather than getting fitted, I keep looking for a quick fix - those used irons in the $200-$300 range. My wedges, driver and wood/hybrids have been there for 2 years. I just replaced a putter of 3 years. But I just can't find the perfect irons for me. I go from blades to SGIs and everything in between. Graphite shafts get replaced with ultra heavy TT Dynamic Golds. It's an endless debacle.

I jump all over any new tour ball that comes out, and never stick with any ball religiously. Its just what ever box strikes my fancy when Im at the store that day.

As far as traditional equipment I switch putters alot, and Ive gone through 3 sets of irons in less than 2 years. Thats somewhat explainable though as my handicap has fallen I went from super GI Adams A2OS to CG Golds, and now to my CG Reds when I felt I needed to be using stiff shafts.

Even though I'm just starting to become an obsessive hoarder, it's irons for me. Heck, I'm planning on ditching my less-than-a-year-old G5 in order to help pay for a blended set.

For someone whose life fits in a compact sedan (minus four more boxes of books), having two-and-a-half sets of irons right now probably isn't the most spatially economical thing in the world. Sometimes I wish it was drivers or wedges, but until I get tired of my 905R (read: when I get done with this set or irons [third in a year and change] and I can afford a 909D2 or D3) or my Vokeys (read: when their grooves are too worn) that ain't gonna happen. Putters? Well, there is that Cameron Squareback...
