For those who have 2-hybrids, why do you carry them? I want to buy the matching one to my 3 hybrid. The auction for it ends soon, though.

Just wondering why you carry a 2h instead of a 5W.
What is the distance compared to your 5W (how much shorter) and 3H (how much farther)?
Any pros and cons?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

At the moment, I'm not carrying a fairway wood. I carry 2 hybrids because they are easier to hit in my experience. I have a 3H and a 4H, plus 4-PW and 3 wedges. The 3H for me is essentially a fairway wood, as I hit it about 225-235. My 4H goes about 210-215 and my 4 iron goes about 200, so it kind of works for me.

Eventually, I'd like to find a good fairway wood that I can hit consistently and then have the option to rotate woods, hybrids and wedges depending on where I'll be playing.

I carry and a 1H and 2H both Bridgestone 33s. I carry them because of the flexibility and workability that both allow. Distance wise, the 1H is about 230-235 and the 2H is 210-215.

I've had them for about ten days, now and have been working them at the range. I've played one round of golf and the performance was pretty good. Ball flight was a medium trajectory but get good carry. The shafts could be a bit stiffer (Aldila Hybrid Stiff Shafts) but we'll see after I've played a few rounds.

I currently carry 3 hybrids - 2H in place of 5W, 4H in place of 3 and 4 iron and 5H in place of 5 iron. They are far more versatile and I like the 5H because it's slightly longer than 5i, but much higher trajectory. The 2H gets used primarily off tee box.

I have a 16 degree hybrid that has become one of my favorite club, especially off the tee. It has a shorter shaft which fosters good control. It also cuts through the rough well compared to a fairway wood. It gives me an acceptable distance gap from my driver, although I think it is probably shorter in distance than a five wood. 16 degrees is close to some 3 woods though, but the shaft length takes distance. My matching 19 must go 10-15 yards less or so than the 16. (I just bought a rangefinder so my calculations will be more precise next year!) I hope this gives you some insight, but overall I have been happy with my choice to forget the fairway wood.

I carry three hybrids without thinking of what they replace. What I would have hit in their place before hybrids came into fashion is irrelevant because I wouldn't be hitting those clubs that far any more.

Instead, I look at it like this. The longest fairway club that I can hit with reasonable consistency is the four-wood.

The longest iron I can hit consistently as solidly as I can hit a hybrid is a six-iron.

I can hit the 4-wood about 210 or 215 from the deck.

I hit a 30/31° six-iron about 168-170.

Now it's a matter of seeing how far I can hit the various lofted hybrids to fill that gap, as well as how many I'll need. I happen to need three, so that leaves me room for four wedges (counting the PW that matches my irons).

That's all there is to set configuration.

I am not a big hitter and I have a 17* 2 ironwood I hit it about 170 to 190. Also what the number 2 is great also for is hitting low stingers from under trees. I have a 7 wood hybrid that is 21* that I am soon going to replace with a #3 20* ironwood. My latest is a #5 ironwood 26* it replace my 5 iron. After I replace my 7 wood with the 20* I probably will buy the 23 also. To me they are just easy to hit. I love them also in fairway sand traps. Mine are all Nickents they are great prices on ebay. So in my bag I carry drive 3 wood. 3 hybrids and 6 thru 9 irons and 2 wedges and putter.

I once played a round with my chiropracter's clubs and he had six Cleveland Halos in 3° increments from 16 to 31°!

I liked the Halos more than the blunt toe HiBores which replaced them.

This year, Cleveland is releasing Launcher hybrids, and they go back to the long profile that the Halos had. They're worth checking out for someone who liked the Halos but didn't pull the trigger when they were available.

I carry 17° and 21°. The 21° I bought it because with the X-20 Tour's I can't hit it, the ball flight was very low and I can't get the distance I want from it. With the 21° I can put the ball in the air pretty easy and the ball flies the yards I need.

I used to had a 5W but I always slice it. When I hit it good the ball goes around 220 yards. But with the 17°, I use it for 240 yards, the versatility you have is great. It can go high or low and for me is way easier to hit than a 2 iron.

Hope this helps.

Greetings!

I carry a 2 hybrid(19*) instead of a 5 wood,i hit them the same distance but the reason i carry the hybrid instead is that it is better out of the rough than a wood, its nice to have a club that i can hit good from a long way back if i am in the rough, also i prefer the ball flight of it on a windy day than a wood,i usually it low and piercing compared to a wood.
