I'm looking at picking one up pretty soon (I think)... probably go with the 9.5 tour model, if I like the ballflight outside. Anyone played these and/or have any opinions on such.

They are only $199 new in stores and much less used.

From what I've seen its alright, but when you hit it hard, the sound literally hurts your ears, it's a high screeching noise.

I demoed two of them before choosing my current driver.

I was impressed with the club. My decision could have gone either way...

I have the Hyper X Tour 9.5 and I love it. I needed something that would bring my ball flight down and this fit the bill (it's a low spin head). It has a neutral-to-slightly open face which is nice too since I was fighting hooks for a while.

I don't think this driver is loud at all. I hit my father-in-law's Cleveland HiBore and I thought I was going deaf.

I am also fighting a draw that can turn ugly (ever since November)... however, last time out I tried hitting fades again on the back, and it worked a little better. I am sure I would be back to normal if I would just hit up the range a bit... but I definately like the neutral look this club.

Also, noise never really bothers me... if I like the results I come to appreciate whatever noise it is.

I have had one for six months and I like it. But I have my eye on something else. You can buy mine if you're interested. 10 degree stiff fujikura.

the 10* has a closed clubface and I think it also has a higher launch shaft... so it probably wouldn't work for me.

just curious, but what do you have your eye on?

Big_M, you are right on both counts. The face on the non-tour model is closed 1* and it has a higher launch shaft.

If you can tell it's closed more power to ya. It sets up awfully square. I was of the same thinking on the closed but this is far different than most of the "closed" club faces I have picked up. My driving has improved greatly since putting this in my bag. Tour or not, I think it's a good driver for the price.

I'm wanting an FT-5. I've hit one before and I pounded it high and straight. Just didn't want to pay the high prices.

I would seriously look into Cobra Speed Ld f..... the 9.5 degree option with stiff shaft gives me a little lower ball flight. I never used to hit a driver and really like the roll i got from low piercing 3 wood i hit off the tee so i tried to get this when i purchased a driver and this is what i ended up with.

Jury's still out on this one for me. Tour 9.5, went with an xs fit-on and did not care for the club. Sprayed left and right and did not like the feel at all. Cut in down to 44 and helped some. Reshafted with a stiff NV85. Definately tightened up the dispersion (nice baby fade) but could still lose the shaft. Currently have a Prolaunch Red stiff, and pretty decent now. Much better feel. Sound and feel are 'tinny' compared to my Wilson, but not bad. Lost about 5 yds compared to the Wilson (very underated-hot driver). Ballflight was pretty good, no complaints there. Club sets up really nice. I'm not 100% sold on this setup yet, but still giving it a chance. Seems to like a low tee. Fwiw, everyone that's hit it had really good things to say. I'm pretty picky and right now it's more about conquering the shaft/club combo. Will probably go back to the Wilson though. I've always struggled with 460 heads, seems to slow down my swing and release; so it's prob. me more than the club.

Not trying to thread-jack, but good to hear that. Don't see much posted about the Pd-5. Thing is solid as hell. Reminds me a little of the old 975 as far as feel. One of the longer drivers I've hitten and I'm cut down to 44". Tried a YS-7+ in it and ended up back with the stock graffaloy xs. Glad you're liking yours too. Was going to pick another up over the winter, but prices came up about 50.00 since I bought mine (60.00 new)
Again, sorry for the thread-jack but was excited about seeing some more love for the Wilson.

I bought one about 6 months ago and it's okay. I hit it alright but I've never really fallen in love with it. It's in my travel set of clubs that are good enough to play with but I have only a little affection for. I much prefer the FT-i to the Hyper X or the FT-5 -- you can get both of them on Callaway preowned in like new condition for something like $209, depending on shaft selection.

Frankly, not to bag on the Hyper X, but I liked my old FT-3 better too.
