Greetings ...

Hmmm - No comments RE this week's PGA Tour stop? Some of you must be watching football or whatever!

2009 Sony-Hawaiian Open: Leaderboard ... Tee Times (add five hours for US Eastern Time)

Tadd Fujikawa, who just turned 18 on January 8th , is positioned for a historic finish on Sunday - but only if he can keep his game at peak level.

A victory would make Tadd Fujikawa the youngest ever PGA Tour event champion - the current record holder is Johnny McDermott in the 1911 US Open (19 years, 10 months). The win would carry with it automatic entry into the Masters, Players Championship, PGA Championship and 2010 Mercedes-Benz Championship, plus the right to join the PGA Tour as a full-fledged member. As a full member, he would then appear on the regular members money list. Then, in the first event he entered after Sony-Hawaii, he would start earning Fed Ex Cup points.

One another note - if Tadd were to win on Sunday, and if the Sony-Hawaii's World Golf Ranking Field Strength Rating is at least 115 (how that is determined, I don't know), he would also earn a berth in the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone.

Of course, it goes without saying - if Mr. Fujikawa should win on Sunday, we would all be more than a tad bit overwhelmed!

Greetings ...

Tadd Fujikawa has indeed turned pro. However, he is not as of now a PGA Tour member. He is competing this week on the strength of Monday Open Qualifying, which does not count against his allowed total of seven sponsor invitations and five Top-10 and ties finishes.

That was an exciting finish. I feel a bit bad for Tadd, but I'm sure the huge following he has gotten in Hawaii will help for future invites, especially to this tournament.
