For all you tennis fans, what are your predictions for the 2009 Australian Open? I'm hoping to see another Federer-Nadal match. I'm feeling good about Federer after his very decisive match over del Potro, beating him 6-3 6-0 6-0. Hopefully he'll handle Roddick too, although if he does play Nadal, it will be quite a touch match. Nadal is a very good player, though I'm not at all a fan of his clothing style. So, what do you think?

I caught a breif glimpse of Nadal and Verdasco today. Saw that Verdasco won the first set and was even with Nadal in the second. Don't tell me the outcome though. I know I'll catch it later tonight in replay.

I really enjoy watching tennis. Lot of action and good athletes. Some of the broads are pretty hot too...

I cant wait until federer beats Nadal, it will be an amazing moment in my life no doubt. I am a huge fed fan, and if he wins it, it'll be like payback for last year at wimbledon. Plus i love to see federer's vistory scream...you can tell it means so much to him.

That match was one of the best I've seen in a while. So much endurance, it's amazing.

And I really hope Fed beats Nadal.

You can't deny he's great though...

That's all there is to it. I used to hate on Tiger Woods all the time. In time I learned that there is no reason, he's just really good.

That match was epic. Both Fed and Rafa are beasts. Always a great match to watch. I was going for Nadal though.

I watched a good part of the final and it was a great match. Nadal is just so tough. Federer is 'prettier' in the sense he just seems to float out there and every swing is like poetry, but Nadal just doesn't give up on shots and seems 'tougher'. I love watching their contrasting styles. It's one of the best matches I've seen in a while and I hope we continue to see them both in the grand slam finals thoughout the year.

To relate it to golf, I would love to see Tiger have a rivalry with another player to compare to these 2 guys. I know people have compared Tiger to Federer, but I think he's more like Nadal. Other players look prettier, but none get it done as well as him. It would be a lot of fun to have Tiger's rival be the smooth swinging, easy going attitude type (like Fred Couples) as a contrast to Tiger's tough, focused style.

Yeah, there's no denying Nadal is great. I really just hope Fed gets his 14th (and maybe more). I honestly thought he had Nadal after that 4th set, but Nadal is nearly impossible to wear out. :(
It's unrealistic for me to think that Fed has a decent chance at the French Open (hence Nadal's nickname "the King of Clay") but I look forward to it.

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
