I personally love Camillo, for reasons unbeknown to me, but i also just get frustrated by AK's cocky side. The belt has got to go...

Thoughts?

I think AK is more grounded than Camillo.

Who cares if he wears a belt buckle? I've seen them both on some GC shows and they come off as pretty nice guys. Kim has admitted he's adjusted the way he handles himself a bit, and Villegas has never really come across as cocky. I personally think they are both tremendously talented, but would give Villegas the edge right now, I think he'll have a consistently better year this year week in and week out on all types of courses.

I really like Anthonys attitude, the way he was(maybe acting) on tee it up with Tiger. I like the way he also seems humble when it comes to the game of golf and how he learned. Sometimes the broadcasters on tv make it out like Camillo is out there playing golf and taking everyones wife or girl friend in the gallery home with him. I must say I like the way they both play the shot, if it's good they get a happy grin, or swagger, but if it's a bad shot it's ok no biggie, I'll just make the next one better., maybe I will try and use that attitude myself, it was good ok, bad shot , no big deal, next one will be better.

As a massive fan of both I find it difficult to split the pair each week.
Anthony has the incredible ability to come up with jaw-dropping shots out of nowhere-his second to the par 5 18th at the Mercedes Benz a good example.
Camilo is a more consistently good less tempermental player.
As regards who is going to win more tournaments this year I would have to go for Camilo but on raw natural ability its AK.

Btw I don't think the belt-buckle is a problem.Golfers need to have a bit of individuality

i'll have to give camillo the edge. he just seems to want it more.

Agreed....

Both are great. Obviously, Camillo won two playoff events which some may consider bigger tournaments than the Verizon and the Wachovia of Kim. However, both are long hitters, have game, and are mentally tough.

I personally like Kim's little cockyness. It brings a bit of energy to the game. Think back, we havent had this kind of "personality" i.e. w/ Kim, Boo, Camillo, JB, Scott etc. in a long time.

I totally agree. He doesnt seem to boast, he's says, "I just try to hit the middle of the fairway".

I really like his honesty.

This is really tough from a woman's perspective (yes, boys...there are a few of us who lurk here ;)).

Camilo is every women's xxx dream! I just love watching him play, talk, walk and line up a putt. And he is fulfulling all those dreams on this week's Buick Invitational. Wow!

Now...Anthony Kim is someone you want to "mother". Yikes, I expect that's not what he wants to hear, but those are the facts boys. I just love him, but more as my long long son, not as the hottest thing that has hit the links.

Both are amazing golfers and will do very well in their careers. And both have great belt buckles ;)

But in the end, Camilo is the new Garcia and he's is so hot, I'm having trouble touching my keyboard. hot hot hot...

Now...maybe now is the time to move this to the women's segment in this forum ;)

You bring up a very good point, Camillo also possesses a very large belt buckle of a bull.

By the way, the new Golf Digest (March) has a very good article on Anthony Kim.

It's really a toss-up, they're both amazing players, and they're both going to get multiple major wins. I'll take AK since he used to use my driver.

I am thinking that AK will win first after watching Camilo this past weekend. I don't think Camilo's swing is good enough nor do I think his putting is there yet. AK seems to have a much better overall game.

I agree....I think he just got, 1.)the luck of the draw getting the south course Thurs. 2.)a lot of lucky rolls in the first two rounds. He seems not to perform well under pressure or otherwise pleasant conditions.

If winning 2 playoff events isn't pressure I don't know what is. I am assuming you don't remember his drive on the 18th while leading last year. AK won regular nobody cares tournaments. I agree Camilo didn't play his best yesterday but you CAN'T win every time. Watney won because he rolled one in from like 100ft. Camilo had about 5 of those but they didn't want to go in.

Anyways, I expect both Camilo and AK to win a couple this year too.

If you look at AK's swing versus Villegas, I think AK is much more fundamentally sound. I also think that they hype component will catch up to Villegas too. His notoriety for his "spiderman" way of looking at putts and his bad dress will keep him in the spotlight for a while but I think AK has way more game in the long run.

Villegas was also the guy that the other pros voted most over hyped.

    • If you still have that code available, I would love to get a copy. We have PowerShell code that pulls indexes and individual 9-hole handicaps for the tee sets of the course we play. We have 40 players and use this data for skins. We do skins by flight which we have 4 of them A,B,C,D and without pulling this data it would be almost impossible to do in the application. Right now, we also grab each "card" as it comes off the course and put it into a spreadsheet to help us understand who won the round and helps us with skins. Each golfer is required to enter their own scores in GHIN also. Our goal is to have each golfer enter in the scores in GHIN but pull the individual hole scores down each week after the round is posted so that we can figure skins, and points. I found a site for APIs, but it is old referencing https://api.ghin.com/api/v1. Our current code uses https://api2.ghin.com/api/v1. I tried using that along with what was provided in the old doc, but it appears many of the API signatures changed. I'm hoping I can use the python code to get examples of the API calls I need. if nothing else I could recode ours to use python.
    • This is pretty interesting. I don't have a Stack radar so I can't use the app, but given what they say it should be fairly easy to come up with some kind of proxy to it if I spend an hour with a trackman. Just note what ball speed gives what distances and plot it. It's presumably not directly linear, but if you hit 50 shots between 30 and 100 yards, you'll have enough to pin down most yardages in that window (yards vs ball speed). Then rather than trying to match distances, just try to match ball speeds with whatever radar you do have. The whole strokes gained thing would be more difficult, but that's not really necessary to work on it. Or just buy a Stack radar...
    • I don't think that is what the study was showing. It just showed that golfers who spent less time over the ball performed better. It didn't say pending their normal pace.
    • No…? When we edit the title of topics, a little note appears.
    • Rush or delay your own pace and you are probably going to suffer in the long run. PGA pro are well oiled machines that work on an specific pace, it's not surprise that if you move them out of their normal routine things are going to go sideways. I normally don't rush shots, but I sometimes delay the trigger if I'm not feeling it. The result is a lack of athleticism, I kind of get a little stiff and I could loose some yards and accuracy.
