The titleist vokey was the first wedge I ever bought, and I loved it to the day my golf bag got stolen! I actually didn't know that there was that much hype about vokeys until recently. Prior to that, I always thought Cleveland owned the wedge market! I had never even her of "vokeys" when i bought mine :)

They SUCK, they are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY over priced and the HYPE is outrageous.

What the pros play is entirely different than what is on the self.

Don't like most Titleist products, except their GOLF BALLS, which are still OVER-PRICED

Perhaps your experience in clubmaking has given you some insights from which all would benefit, as opposed to this silly post. Let's capitalize that "S@#%", good one, are you about 15?

No, what the pros play is very similar to what's on the shelf, though they may have them custom ground a bit, and may or may not play a different shaft, which doesn't affect your "argument". There are "special" Vokeys, have yet to see those show up in WITB, but there may be some. Also interesting to see how many pros that have contracts with or use other irons, have Vokey wedges in their bags. Would be interested in what facts provide the basis for your emotional response to Titleist, as opposed to just popping off.

I've tried to avoid this because the argument so far has been mostly, "Whether or not I play them, they're good. I respect the craftsmanship, etc..." versus "LOL OMG vokeys are teh suck!" with very little being offered as a coherent argument as why Vokey wedges are bad.

They aren't Miura or Scratch wedges. But they aren't that expensive, either. Yes, $10 more than the new Nike, Callaway, and Cleveland wedges (except the Callaway Tour Authentics, which look like they're ~$55 more than the Vokeys), but they're the same price as the new TaylorMade wedges. Whoop-de-doo.

Vokey wedges look good. They feel good. The standard clubs provide a good number of loft/bounce options and good grooves. The special grinds they have released are wonderful (I own the 60-P and have tried the 60-M and -V. All very nice, but I wouldn't trade my -P for either of the others).

The Vokeys we can buy are similar to the ones used on tour. The big difference is that you and I don't have someone who will grind all our wedges to our precise specifications.

I know wedges, like every other club in your bag, are personal preference... But whether or not you play Vokey Wedges, I find it hard to believe that you cannot respect what they are.

I like them. I'm playing Clevelands right now that I like better, but Vokey makes a great wedge too.

Yeah, vokey is good. But cleveland absolutely blows it out of the water. Even the 588s are better when you take price into account. Also Sonartecs and Mizunos are other favorites

The zip grooves actually bite too much on the lower lofts. I hit a few shots with the 48* version and it had almost twice as much spin as my current wedge.

I

reviewed the Zip Grooves and found that they had substantially less spin than Spin Milled Vokeys, TaylorMade's grooves, and others. I spent plenty of time playing the wedges.

I have a 56-10 and a 60-08 and I like how they feel. I spent some time reviewing and trying some different wedges before I bought. I'm happy with what I got, particularly with pitch shots and partial wedge shots. I bought my two Vokeys on ebay about a year ago for a combined $130. I have used them loads over the last year, probably 80 rounds plus practise. I'm considering buying a couple of 09 Vokeys to replace my current ones.

Kcas is right dude, the zip grooves are junk. If you look at the CG12 review on this website, the reviewer agrees as well.

Well obviously you can't hit them correctly.

Vokey's feel so good to me. But, really just because someone doesn't like them doesn't make it a bad club or a good club. If someone feels good hitting the ball with a shovel, then good for them; I wish I could find something to shovel the snow and play golf with.

I like Vokeys and always have. Will I always play them? No. I think it is only natural to have a wandering eye.

One thing I will always like about Vokeys is that they are an industry standard. As a musician, they remind me of a Fender Stratocaster or P-bass in this sense....If you can't play with one, you have serious fundimental problems. Now that is NOT to say that if you don't PREFER a Vokey you have swing problems so hold off on the criticisms. I just feel like if there was a "Wedge Making 101" a Vokey diagram would be on the first page of the final exam.

Lots of loft and bounce options make the Vokey as versatile as you wish it to be.

Personally, I do not believe Titlelist should be some exhalted brand beyond reproach of criticism. I do not believe that is true of ANY brand. I completely understand a need and want to try and play other wedges. But I do like the Vokey designs. JMHO

I'll take the smiley to mean you're joking (even if it's not a joking type smiley).

I completely agree the zip grooves spin noticably less.

Kcas is right dude, the zip grooves are junk. If you look at the CG12 review on this website, the reviewer agrees as well.

I however, prefer the amount of spin I get with the Clevelands... it seems like Vokeys change more as the club ages while Clevelands tend to stay pretty similar. I don't need a wedge to spin back 10 feet on 80-100y shots...

vokeys are fine. They play nicely as long as you swing them nicely. There is no magic golf club. However, I play nickent's arc wedges which are forged and they feel amazing with rifled wedge flex shafts. Grooves aren't huge but you just gotta expect it to roll out from the rough and know how it reacts. I don't play premium balls either since I can't really afford 4 bucks a ball so I don't need those grooves cutting my ball up, I'll get spin the old fashioned way.

It's not that I do not like Vokey wedges, because I think they are OK, but they are not my favorites. I currently carry a spin milled 58* and don't mind it. I had lost my Cleveland CG10 58* and was going to buy a new one when I found this Vokey in used bin and it looked brand new. It was priced $39 so I bought it. I have found I prefer the feel and look of my Cleveland wedges, but the Vokey is OK. When it wears out I'll probably buy another Cleveland or a Mizuno to replace it. The 58* is not used that much most days so it's not that big a deal that I carry it.
