I had a friend of mine who was a club pro at a course. His degree was in golf management. I said during his time there he played the least amount of golf in his life. He said he never had time to actually go out in play. That sucks! He sells insurance now so I imagine he now has plenty of time.

That is true... our head pro sometimes only gets to play a couple of times a month. Between managing the business side of the golf course and giving lessons his day is full. He's lucky to squeeze in an occasional 9 holes in the afternoon. You have to really love what you're doing to stick it out as a club pro.

im all for "hijacking" this thread for whatever u want, thats cool with me.

my firend says that the place im applying for doesnt hire kids unless they have their drivers lisence. i guess u have to have a lisence to drive the carts there, and you have to be 16.5 years old to get your lisence here in PA. so im not sure if ill get the job, considering im turning 16 in 2 weeks. that doesnt make sense to me. when i turn 16 i can get my permit so im allowed to drive on the road, but i just need to have an adult with me. if i can handle a 2 ton car, i think i can handle a golf cart. but what the heck, im applying anyway.

Are most of you young kids or retired/semi-retired? I'm 35, love golf, tired of sitting in front of computers all day ... was thinking of trying to get a VERY part time job at a course for the free golf, and to get outside.

I have a full time job, so I already work 8-5 during the week. So I probably couldn't work more than a few hours during the week at night some time, and perhaps the weekends.

I play ALOT of golf (9 holes Monday - Friday after work, and 18-36 holes Sat - Sunday), so I don't want to get myself into a situation where I'm working all the time & have no time for golf.

I know that most golf jobs don't pay much, so I can't quit my full-time job ... but I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.

Your thoughts?

i work at the course sunday mornings from 6am to noonish and save boatloads of money with free range time and free rounds... on the weekends im at the course anyways and the job is relatively easy so i dont really consider it "work"...

the rest of the week is the usual grind... sitting behind a keyboard trying to stay awake most of the day till its time to go home

I have worked at my local course for 5 years and have been a cart attendant and am now a pro shop worker. As a cart attendant I cleaned carts, picked the range, dealt with bs on the course, and fixed carts when something went wrong. As a pro shop attendant I basically run the pro shop. I run the register, talk to customers and see what they want to purchase, inform customers of the deals and any info they have questions about. The grounds crew can do anything from mow greens to clean up brush. Most of the time they mow, rake bunkers, and fix sprinkler heads because on a golf course there is always a leaky sprinkler head.

    • Day 33 (13 Dec 25) - Worked on weight shift and resetting the left heel during downswing (after listening to a discussion on Golf School this morning on PGA Tour Radio).  It centered on how Jack Nicklaus lifted his lead heel and how long driver champs do as well.  Taking cues from that discussion, worked an exaggerated feel of the left heel working doing some swing drill in the backyard using the 7i.  Wrapped up the session by hitting a few low bump and run shots in the backyard - keeping the process slow and exaggerated.
    • Day 123 12-13 Rotation and getting to lead side work. Recorded face on. Hit a few foam balls but did plenty of rehearsals today.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
