Which wedge should I buy first? 54 or 58?

54*, because its alot more versitale than a 58, and you are always going to use your sw more than your lw...at least for most people.

Yeah........ the 56 is already out of the bag. So right now I only have the one 54. Within a month or two I'll add in the 58* and I'll just be playing those two wedges.

Then more power to you. As long as you have a swing that you can recreate 9/10 times to go the exact distance you want, that's what it's all about.

Nope... I haven't gotten into competitive golf yet. Maybe next year. The only time I actually play anything similar is when my dad, brother, and I are in the same town and go play. Not sure why, but I do have a knack for playing good on those days -- especially with those in between shots. Me and my dad are right around the same level and my brother is a bit behind, but very athletic and competitive. But honestly, I think it's not at all comparable to what a real pressure would be like. I tend to be much more relaxed around those two.

I would go with the 54 first.
