Lie Angle Adjustment or Not...

I have entered my measurements on a number of different online club fitting programs and just about all of them are consistently showing I should go +1/2" on club length and a +2 upright lie angle adjustment... was going to order some clubs (Calloway Big Bertha 2006 Irons) online... does anyone out there have an opinion on having the +2 lie angle adjustment done based on these online fitting programs or is ordering clubs online and having this adjustment done the wrong way to go... should I just order standard lie angle clubs with +1/2" length and have a pro shop evaluate whether I should do any lie angle adjustment... thanks in advance.

Club length & club lie are important in my opinion because they would allow you to have your set being set up for your swing, height, etc. so that it allows you to have maximum usage of the clubface. I'm not tall (5'6"), and have my clubs at regular length but with 1.5* flat lie angle.
Also, keep in mind that unless you are purchasing forged clubs, it would be wise to have the right specs done at the manufacturer as far as adjustments because your local shop can't perform them once you've ordered your set. Have fun with your selection(s)...

I would suggest getting fitted (if at all possible) in a clubfitter's presence. Keep in mind that you'll spend a little money in doing so but it'll pay dividends. You are definitely on the right track and while an online fitting is a great start nothing takes the place of a good personal fitting. Having said that, I was fit over a year ago at a local golf retailer (Golf Discount) and they did a very poor job. I paid for it and very little care was put into the fitting. I was given the wrong shaft flex, snyde remarks about my swing, and little attention given to detail. So... picking the right clubfitter makes all the difference too.

Sorry to confuse the issue!

The online fitting programs are just a start and nothing else. The only way to get accurate specs is to get fitted by someone who knows what they are doing. As Shigeki said if you get cast irons (which the Berthas are) you cannot adjust the lie angle once you purchase them. Check around some, most fitters do charge for the service, but some will take the fitting charge and put it towards the purchase of the irons. Anyway good luck.

      the rules have changed, but this would fall under 11.2 in the current rules.  General Penalty to any player who deliberately deflects a ball in motion, and you must replay the putt.

      Day 250 4-29 Getting chest through with speed on downswing and wrist arch. Also worked on some moving the pelvis slightly away in the backswing. Feel like im going too fast and long, looks like it on the recordings too.

      Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.

      Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.

      Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
