Are these wedges legal? Or good?

I have never seen a wedge with the type of face as shown in the picture below.

The wedge has standard U or Box grooves as any other wedge would have ...

however it Also has smaller cut grooves through the middle of the wedge.

Is this a legal wedge to use? Why don't you see this on more wedges? Is it bad? Good?

It just looks like teh face is milled...I dont see how it's different from my vokey spin milled?

Sandblasting or other treatments of roughness greater than 180 micro inches are not permitted. Additionally, milling is not permitted if the crest to trough depth exceeds 0.001 inches (0.025 mm). A reasonable tolerance is allowed for both of these measurements.

So...yes....those millings are legal PROVIDED they are not too deep.

No, that's not what spin milled means. Spin milled is how they cut the grooves.

It's confusing, because the face of a Spin Milled wedge is also milled, but that's not quite how they get their name. I've asked Titleist on several occasions and they've always given me the same answer: spin milling refers more to how the grooves themselves are cut. And back to the original question, your club is probably fine. Those added "cuts" are barely there.

I'm assuming those small "cuts" are to help the ball spin more?

That's what they WANT you to think. Milling is done to make the face flat or uniform. What little it may or may not bring to the game otherwise is too little to have any effect.

      Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
