I wish that the networks would somehow figure out a better way to provide better coverage. Don't get me wrong, golf coverage has drastically improved over the years, but I just get annoyed a lot by coverage these days. I realize that all the casual viewers just want to watch Tiger and if he's in contention, I'm all for that. However, if he's not in contention, I really don't want to see every shot he takes.

I mean, I like to watch two guys duke it out on Sunday, I just wish somehow they could make viewing more customizable. I don't know how they'd do it or if they could montearily afford to, but maybe put a few cameras on every hole and keep them there, then stream everything online or something. It just frustrates me because it's so hard to follow your favorite player if he's not Tiger, Phil or Sergio.

A pet peeve of mine in golf coverage goes like this....

They throw it over to whichever hole and whichever player, and the announcer says, "Folks, you may have just heard the roar...." I just look away because I know they holed the shot. Putt, bunker shot, tee shot on a par 3, it doesn't matter. When you hear the anouncer say that, just look away.

What? Why would I look away? So I can miss a great shot? That doesn't make sense.

You've got to remember that there are 18 holes to try and cover with players stretched out all over the course. The cameras cannot possibly follow every group on every hole. Even if they did a majority of the shots would not be worth noting. Sundays are easier, if you think about it. The final three or four groups are the ones to follow and the final group will, 9 times out of 10, provide the most drama. Also, they must rely on replays to bring you shot after shot. It can't all be live. I think, for the most part the networks, including TGC, do a very good job bringing us the game we love. Unlike football or baseball where there are limited camera angles and shots, golf can be much more interesting and visually dramatic. It's an extremely challenging telecast.

In 2005, U.S Open there was a temporary channel reserved for following Tiger and Tiger only. Still main coverage, but they had an actual channel for him.

I had to laugh, but it was cool to watch because they had the conversations between him and Steve, and how they go over a shot is interesting. But, I would rather see the leaders on the weekend.

I would like to see more  opportunity for interaction between us couch potatoes and the players on the screen.  I can't get too excited about watching someone tee off the same way they have hundreds of times before and to watch the ball going throught the air with the sky as a backdrop.  I would like to see more replays of their swing showing what they did right or wrong.  Also please tell me what iron or wood they're using and HOW FAR their drives went  EVERY TIME, and more importantly the "distance of the approach shot to the green and once again what they're using" EVERY TIME.  I would like to think to hear the distance and what Iron they're using and have an opportunity to tell myself, well I'd be using this or that iron or wood.  Putting and chip shots to the green or sand trap shots are the most interesting part of watching, however everyting up to that point needs more interaction for the vieweres.
