I agree with HytrewQasdfg. Almost every ball is within a 5-10 yard distance range.....you should get a ball that feels good & you can keep in the fairway.

Does an extra 5-10 yards really make much of a difference on a drive?

I shoot the E6+ ball and love it....

I'm a fairly long hitter w/ a pretty fast SS but I'll fight a slice a bit too often for my liking..... so the E6+ is perfect for me....

lower spin to minimize the slice effect, and at the same time, these balls are soft around the greens too.....

just a good ball.....

I agree with HytrewQasfg. 5-10 yards do not make much differnece in a drive. It's better to get a ball you can keep in the fairway & play good around the green.

Most people don't know you have to have a high swing speed to compress these balls in order to get maximum performance.

That's inaccurate at worst and misleading at best.

A faster swing will always hit the same ball further (up until you hit literally 140-150 MPH swing speeds - then the ball starts to deform), so if you keep swinging faster you'll keep getting more "performance" (if "performance" == distance). There's no "boost" you get when you reach a certain swing speed. Listen to the question and answer in the podcast re: the "swing speed required to play a Pro V1." Or look at this image from the USGA (and read this article ). Where's the boost occur? It doesn't. Goes from 90 to 120+. Pretty linear, really. Heck, the slope even decreases at 110 MPH.

Yeah, get on the PGA Tour...

Seriously, I just knew someone would have a smart remark. Is there such a thing as too much spin? Certain balls that will overcompress? Balls that people like, balls that are definite no-nos. I ask the question because I don't know, and It's one part of my game that I have never discussed. The pro that fitted me offhandedly suggested a ProV1x, why, are there other options... possibly cheaper??

    • Day 566, May 21, 2024 Six-iron swings in the back yard. Felt good. It's hot here, though.
    • Yep. It’s easy to get distracted during the day and hardly drink any water. Our bodies do not have a good systems to warn us early enough. Some tips I like. Drink 16+ ounces of water when you wake up. The body can lose 1-2 lbs of water weight overnight. You are already in the red. If you know you are going to work out, or even walking 9 holes of golf. Drink water before hand and during the exertion. I was curious once, I did a 40 ish minute workout and I lost about 5 lbs of water weight. That is 80 ounces of water I need to replenish. Now I try to drink 24-36 ounces beforehand.  Aim for half an ounce of fluid, per pound of bodyweight, per day. Note, this is baseline not taking into account exercise or strenuous activity. Also, if you eat non processed foods, you can get a good amount through diet. If you eat processed foods, you need to drink more during the day.
    • Anyone in the group play tennis and interested in playing some tennis this weekend while we are away on recreation?  @StuM I messaged you about hotel accommodations please let me know what you can do.
    • That's kind of what I thought.  The ap maybe fine, but Shotscope is so inexpensive and works really well. I'm surprised more golfers don't use it.
    • Me too. I tend to drink no less than 64 oz in the winter time. In the summer at least twice that.  I'm prone to cramping and cramping sucks. So, I drink plenty of water. BTW - I've become increasingly prone to cramping as I've aged. Aging sucks also.    Huh?  I'd love to know where you got this information. Did you ask your dog?  I'm not sure if I like or dislike the taste of water. It's water. It's one of the things that makes life on Earth possible.
