I've set up a trip this summer to stay at the Pebble Beach Lodge and play PB and Spyglass (oooh, I can't wait!!!). Has anyone ever used a caddy at Pebble, and how was the experience? I have this nostalgic image of strolling down the historic fairways while a seasoned gent (not trying to be sexist, but that's just my image of an old caddy) strolls along carrying my bag, entertaining me with stories of the Great Ones. What I don't want is sniveling kid riding along on the back of a cart asking "Tom Watson? Didn't he used to play for the Dodgers?".

Experiences anyone?

Yes, and it was fantastic... Had the same caddie two days in a row, first at Spyglass and then Pebble... He has caddied there for 20 years... It's a cliché but he knows every blade of grass on those courses... The caddies I saw were all very professional... Tremendous experience, you will thoroughly enjoy it!

      Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

      Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.

      I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
