Let me start by saying i am right handed.

I have been using an interlocking grip there the left pointer finger is in between my right pinky and ring fingers but after playing a few rounds and going to the range it (left pointer) started to get sore and hurt. I have been wondering if it is ok for me to still interlock my right pinky and left index finger but overlap my left index on my right ring finger.

Is this ok? Does anyone else do it?

If you need more clarification on what i was talkiing about let me know and i will be happy to re-word what i said in my description.

Thanks.

Actually, I am quite similar to you. Recently, my grips cut my fingers and i have what was a blister. It's now a painful annoyance. I'm not sure if you mean that your finger is being cut like this or actually the finger is sore. I would say keep what your doing, because it will most likely toughen up and won't be cut again.

Thanks a for the replies. I was thinking of bumping this thread because the problem hasn't realy gone away.

It isn't a skin problem. It is more of a bone or joint pain. My left index finger has a big bump right below the joint. It feels almost like a calcium build up. When i play my finger doesn't hurt till late in the round which might have contributed to my blow up on the last 2 holes the last two times i played.

are your fingers actually wrapping around the grip?

I recently picked up a new set of irons and the factory grips were waayy too thin, I could tell right away. my fingers are a little longer and they don't wrap around the grip properly (I use an interlocking grip as well). I get blisters/lumps and my finger's joints hurt like hell after 100 balls at the range.

I'm going to have them re-gripped with midsize or oversize grips which will solve the problem. have you considered trying this?

depends on your hand size. Plus, whats bad about a fade? Espically for higher handicaps, it provides sooo much more control than a draw.

You got that from 'The Greatest Game Ever Played' with Shia Labeouf in it. The Francais Ouimet story if that didn't ring a bell haha.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
