Does bending a 50 degree wedge to 51 or 52 degrees make much of a difference? Is there a general rule for changing loft and the difference in yardage it creates? I hit my 50 degree about 125 yards.

Yes it will make a difference, you will hit it shorter probably by about 5-7 yards. No general rule on how much yardage you will lose/gain, just saying 5-7 based on your current yardage that you hit it now.

You can absolutely loft/deloft your wedges. People tweak them all the time. Don't forget by doing so, you will also increase/decrease the bounce on the wedge by the same degree as the loft increase/decrease.

i.e. at 2 degrees stronger, your 50.10 will become a 52.12.

Your full shot distances should change accordingly, but as the other poster noted, it's impossible to determine exactly what those number would be.

If you like your wedges, don't try this at home. Bending is best left to someone who really knows what they're doing.

It will affect the bounce if that matters to you at all. The higher number you move it to, will add that amount of bounce. Example: 50 degree loft/8 degree bounce will become 52 degree loft/10 degree of bounce. Opposite is true if you decrease the loft. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Titleist doesn't make a 52 degree wedge with a bounce of 10...would that mean that 10 is probably too much for that club?

Not at all.

    • Ah.. my regular weekend league. Lol Scrambles are fine. Usually there's charity involved. So there's that. There are much worse events Im forced to attend twice a year.
    • Does Justin Thomas have a massively underrated short game? It seems every time I look up he's hitting it close from a tough lie after short siding himself. What masterful touch
    • I freaking hate them. Too expensive, cheaters, food sucks, too dependent on weather, I keep telling myself never do it again but I'm a dummy
    • I enjoyed the A-B-C-D scramble we did at Kittyhawk before it shut down. Yes. The point was to meet the other members and get the season kicked off. Nobody took it too seriously. At least with that group, cheating wasn't a big issue.  As the D part of A-B-C-D, I enjoyed getting to play with one of the Association's top players. One year I played with the city champ. Man could he hit a ball.  It probably isn't something I'd want to do more than once a year, but it has its place.
