Just a question for anyone who could help me. I've been playing Taylormade TP Blacks/Reds for the last two years and want to change it up. I'm looking for something with adequate distance but great around the greens. I know the obvious Titleist ProV's but was wondering if any other ideas were out there. My ss is between 110-120 most of the time (pending the temp in northeast PA). Any suggestions?

Check out premium balls Bridgestone B330S and/or Srixon Z-STAR. Both are a little softer ball for better feel around green and still have the urethane cover for maximum spin. Both are priced around the $42 range (like the balls you've been playing). Personally I think I've come to like the Srixon best, but you're a better player than me so you're opinion may be completely different.

I would check out the Bridgeston B330 S and RX, Callaway Tour i/iX, and Srixon Z-Star/X. With your swing speed, all of these would be good. The Bridgestone shows the swing speed rating on the box because they were designed for "slower swing speed" (ie. non pro speeds up to 150mph ect).

Another vote for Bridgestone B330s and Srixon Z-Stars. Ive never really paid much attention to Srixon, but I have been very impressed with the Z-Stars.

I recently took 4 balls to Arizona with me for the purpose of finding my ball for the year. prov 1x, nike one black, srixon z, and callaway tour ix. All of the balls performed similar on and around the greens. The big difference was the long shots,,,, the Callaway was no kidding 20 yards longer off the tee and one whole iron longer, this was measured using my skycaddie. Normally distance would not be the deciding factor, but with this ball it was so much longer that I would feel silly playing any other. This is just what I found, I hope this helps.

That's a huge difference....don't blame you for going with the Tour IX.

Maybe you had a lot of Wheaties for breakfast that morning.

I've tried the Callaway tour ix and didn't see the distance gain compared to the Wilson Zip or Top Flite Gamer. I've been hearing some great stuff about Srixon's Zstar. I'd say give that a go!

The wilson and top flite are not in the same league as the callaway. The Callaway is a tour performance ball, the others are just nice distance balls. Apples to oranges. Also I used the balls for 3 hole stretches over three rounds, just to try to get an accurate comparison.
