Should I believe the hype about Mizuno's "Kabuki" bag system?

Okay, so now that I'm getting some butter Mizuno irons, they will be my babies. I only have 3 of them built thus far and they are starting to get a little bit of bag chatter, which I know "builds character," but I'm curious if anyone has any real experience with this.

Mizuno's bag's have that "Kabuki" divider system that is supposed to reduce bag chatter and keep the clubs from clanking against each other as much, and I'm curious if it will actually do what it claims. If any company were to come up with a bag design that would minimize damage to soft forged irons, I'd expect Mizuno to be the one.

I have a Ping Hoofer 2 that is still going strong, but the clubs definitely clank quite a big especially when walking.


Does this actually work? And if so, is it worth $100+ for a new bag now that I've got much softer irons?

Bag Boy has the cliplock system that clips each club in it own slot. This is supposed to reduce club chatter a bunch.

chatter is fine, don't listen to the companies that make this stuff, it's unnecessary accessorizing (say that 5 times fast!)

I play forged irons and use the hoofer two and it's no problem. No amount of chatter will change the performance of your clubs. Nicks and scratches only means you use them. Go to any college tournament or major amateur event and you'll hear it everywhere.

I have the Twister III bag and I don't notice much chatter at all. But you're gonna get some its a great sound of golf. Nothin better than forged iron heads clackin' together.

I completely agree with the above, clubs clinking together is one of the classic sounds of golf, it's usually when you know a true player is near.

Nothing screams douche like having 14 clubhead covers or something of the like.

Wrap your towel around your clubs when you walk. To me nothing screams douche like the guy that purposefully walks extra bouncy to make the clatter super audible.

A true player isn't defined by the sound he makes, just the scores he posts. Although I do agree - iron covers are for people that piss sitting down.

let the irons clang all they want, i dont mind it, its actually kind of soothing, kinda walking to the beat of a drum.. Ha

but I do have covers for my vokey wedges.. I like to keep my wedges clean and dingless.

Maybe I just don't watch others enough, but I've never seen anybody walk extra bouncy to make their clubs make noise, that is just absurd.

Nicks on your irons give them personality, and shows your past and commitment with them. Kinda like a scar, tells a story

Ouch..

I don't mind the Irons clanking, but my irons have nicked the shafts of my Woods and I don't want that on my graphite shafts! So I either throw an extra towel between them, or use head covers on those close to my Woods, but that's a PITA... I hate messing with covers and the towel...

I have the Mizuno Tour Stand Bag... I understand why you don't want clatter sound- for me, I have playing partners that I don't want to disturb by walking while they swing. I know this is odd, but some of the people I play with are somewhat slow and I wanted a bag with less clatter sound so I can speed up play without disturbing anyone in my group or disturbing other groups while they are hitting. IMO, the Kabuki works well to mitigate the sounds of clubs hitting each other. However, I miss a separate putter well and the legs/stand component isn't really sturdy- if u have a putter, you must have a cover especially if you have a mallet or else it will scratch your iron shafts. I thought this would be a top notch bag at $200 but, it has many top notch features, but a few odd design flaws IMO. The Callaway Warbird bag has a sturdy stand feature although I'm not impressed with the aesthetics of the bag- too much logo-ing and colors, but I expected it to be sturdy like the Callaway bag. In the future, I hope Mizuno creates a better, more solid leg/stand feature and perhaps reshape the Kabuki to include a putter well. If so, the bag will be perfect.
