Help Picking Out New Clubs!

Hey y'all,

I have been golfing for about 3 years on and off now. But I haven't played for a few months because of school and winter...

Anyway, I have a Rawlings Club set, and I'm looking to upgrade soon.

What should I get? I'm not looking into anything extremely expensive as I am a college student, but I would like a relatively decent set of clubs.
Any help is appreciated, and if you need some more information, please don't hesitate to ask and specify.

Nickent 3DX RC hybrid/iron sets are inexpensive and great. The Hybrids alone are worth their weight in gold.

I would get a set that is...
A) in your price range
B) looks and feels good to YOU
C) has some hybrids
D) is adjusted (length and lie) to your swing (may be done after purchase)
E) has the proper flex shaft

agree with everyone else...hybrids are a great way to replace multiple clubs in your bag and add room down low for wedges. when i starting to really improve my game my bag consisted of driver, 3h, 4h, 5-pw, 56wedge, 60wedge, and putter. as i improved my distance with driver and the distance gap became a bit too wide, i struggled deciding between a 2h and 3W to fill the gap. Ultimately i chose a 2h to close the gap just cause i like the versatility of hybrids.

wilson fybrids actually look pretty promising in the regard of replacing woods and iron....Paddy's got it in his bag so its gotta be solid

I would go for a good condition used club, if u don't like u can always sell similar price. Wouldn't insist on brand new. I got most of my club as used but new model tho.

I feel like a complete idiot for asking this, but I have to know...
I found these Ping G5 irons on a website and I don't really know what is included... Is it the ones that are in the table under Ping G5 Iron Specifications? All those included in the deal?
I'm a real big fan of Ping clubs, not really sure why, but I just like them a lot.

first thing is to get to a store or range and have your swing and swing speed analyzed...the shafts are as, if not more important than the club heads. You want a set that works for your swing.. If you naturally have a steep approach you want irons that have more bounce..if you are a shallow swinger less.

You also want something pleasing to your eye, something you feel good about looking at, that will breed confidence. Don't pay attention to what anyone else plays.

Ping has a great fitting system and you can usually find a great set on ebay very inexpensively and the old I2 and I3's are classic's that have stood the test of time. Make sure the lie angle and length is correct, (very important)

So,

1. the right shaft(s)
2. the right length(s)
3. proper lie angle
4. proper bounce
5. pleasing to YOUR eye
6. proper loft and face angle for your driver
7. the correct grip size
8. Hybrids instead of 3 and 4 irons

I just was fitted for a set of these recently....had 'em in my bag for about a week and a half now.

I've gamed them for 3 rounds so far. I'm very pleased so far. The higher ball flight is nice....it's been about nine years since this has been the norm as my last irons had a much lower trajectory. I was worried a bit that the offset would be a problem...it has not been an issue....in fact, the offset in the wedges really scared me....but they are real gems.....I can open the face of the 54 SW and swing hard for the short lob shots....once again. My fitter did a couple of nice things for me.....he went with the AWT shaft vs. the stock CSLite shaft....and he threw in the Cushin insert. I'm pleased with both. These sticks can be had for a heck of great deal right now. I think they offer great performance that rivals the newer G10 (sweet gi club) but sooo much cheaper due to the supply of the older G5 heads. I went with a local guy, though, due to the fact that it'd been years since I was fitted and my specs are a little different than standard.....the fitting charts on the PING webpage were close...but slightly off of what he recomended after I hit some shots. I recently purchased the Mizuno MX-25. They are last years model, and if you search you can get them for around $450. They are forged and have a great feel to them, yet they are fairly forgiving. Definetly give them a try before you make a final decision.

id say if Ping is what you like, then get Ping irons. being comfortable with a certain brand is important. i would do some research on exactly what you want (which model, 3-PW, 4-PW, or 5-SW, etc) and then get a nice used set on Ebay. you will save LOTS of $$$. a lot of people will tell you to hit the irons they have because thats what they like. however, you need to choose what YOU like. and if Ping is what you like, then by all means stay with Ping

It's always good to get fitted but if you're getting back into the game, technology has changed a buttload. The best new age clubs to start with (that will still be great in the long run) are Adams golf clubs. Chem them out, they're for everyone.
