2006 Major Championship Predictions

What are everyones predictions for the remaining three major championships this year, phil struck the first blow at Augusta, but Tiger will be on the prowl as always, and i wouldnt bet against him winning the remainig three, here are my predictions having looked at the courses and possible conditions and also past results, baring in mind Tiger can rip up any course on his day, and also when he isnt having the best of days!

U.S Open @ Winged Foot: Tiger Woods
British Open @ Royal Liverpool: 1 Of Retief Goosen/Luke Donald/Tiger Woods
USPGA Championship @ Medinah: Tiger Woods

Without putting a lot of focus on the situation, here goes:

U.S. Open- Jim Furyk
British Open- Stuart Appleby
PGA Championship- Tiger


Now here's what I would love to see.

U.S. Open- Sergio Garcia (putting will never hold up unfortunately)
British Open- Luke Donald
PGA Championship- Adam Scott

That would get those three guys off to a great start in their "major championship" careers. It would sure help golf as well if some 20-somethings won some damn majors. Of course a Charles Howell III run of three straight majors would put me in complete golf Heaven, but I'll save that for another dream.

      I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.

      Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
