hey i was just wondering what the differences are between the ping g10 irons and the i10 irons. playability, forgiveness, etc....

thanks everyone!

In my Diablo Edge Tour/ Titliest Stand Bag:
Driver: Nike VR Pro 8.5* w/ Myazaki 43g X
3 Wood: Nike VR Pro II 13.5* w/ Diamana Whiteboard 83g X
5 Wood: Cobra S9-1 Pro 18* w/ Diamana Whiteboard 83g X

Hybrid: Mizuno MP Fli-Hi 21* w/ Prolaunch Red X
Irons: 4-7 Titleist 712 CB, 8-9 712 MB w/ TT Dynamic Gold X100

Wedges: 46* Vokey SM4, 54* Vokey SM4, 60* TMade ATV

Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Belly 43"

G10s have bigger heads and are more forgiving an i10s.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?

Woods: :mizuno: JPX 850 9.5*, :mizuno: JPX 850 15*, :mizuno: JPX-850 19*, :mizuno: JPX Fli-Hi #4, :mizuno: JPX 800 Pro 5-PW, :mizuno: MP T-4 50-06, 54-09 58-10, :cleveland: Smart Square Blade and :bridgestone: B330-S

g10's are for players who are looking for a good amount of forgiveness and they have a thick top line. The i10's are for players looking to work the ball and want a more traditional look at address.

Driver: FT-9 7.5*
3 Wood: Burner 14.5*
Hybrid: SQ sumo 3 20*
Irons: Burner 4-Pw
Wedges: Oil Can 52*, Spin Milled 56*, Spin Milled 60* Putter: Crossbax Blade

if you're playing 8 off, like your fi5's which aren't that forgiving to start, then you should be looking at the i10's

in my bag:

Hybrid: Nickent 3dx 3H
Irons: Nike CCI forged 4-pw Wedges: Nike Victory Red 52 56 60 Putter: Rife Mr. Beasley Balls: Bridgestone B330-RX Tees: epoch

much thicker sole on the G10s.....also more offset
909D Comp 9.5* (house MATRIX OZIK XCON-6)
Burner Superfast 3 & 5 woods (house MATRIX OZIK XCON-4.8)
G15 Hybrid 23* (AWT shaft)
G5 5 iron-PW-46*, UW-50*, SW-54 & LW-58 (AWT shaft)
Studio Select Newport 2 Mid SlantGrips: PING cords & Golf Pride New Decade Multi-Coumpound Bag: C-130...

G10's are chunky and have a good deal of offset, good irons for forgiveness but not workability, based on your handicap and the clubs you play now I would look at the I10's. However if you have a steep angle swing the G10 would be game improving because they have more bounce on the sole and would make your divots more shallow. do you find your divots to be deep? If not I10's if so you may want to go G10's..Most grass ranges should have a Ping fitting cart

looking at your handicap and current irons, you could easily transition to S57's...sorry to suggest an alternate ping product, but if you like i10's, i would assume the S57's would be a nice option to consider as well.

Previous generation was the G5 and I5. Interestingly the I5's get a lot of love, the G5's not so much. But for the current generation, the G10's get all the love and the I10's not. Just my sense from surfing the golf forums.
Driver: G15 12*    /     FW: Exotics CB1 4-wood,   a4OS 5-wood
Hybrids Hi-bore 3,4-hybrids  /   Irons: G10 5-UW TFC 129i

One is uglier than the other.....

Seriously though, my golfing partner shoots the G10's and to me they are so hideous looking...... big, fat head on them w/ an ugly bronze kind of color to them.....

i was in the market for new irons this year and tried both of them out. i hated the g10's with passion. they had no feel, i found them hard to look down at, and i couldnt work the ball. when i tried the i10's, it was the exact opposite. i loved them. as a matter of fact, i bought them. they r amazing in my opinion. so pretty much, i personally like the i10's in every aspect.

    • By today’s standards that’s certainly true, but they weren’t having any trouble hitting golf balls in 2005 so I’ve equipped myself with what was among the very best equipment around that time for a very reasonable investment. If I get to the point where I feel like I’ve outgrown that stuff, I’ll reward myself with something more current. But for now I don’t need adjustable loft and lie and modern head shape, just a good quality, proven club with a clean club face. For now I’m going to concentrate on the basics. I know you can get more yardage with newer woods, but I don’t care about distance nearly as much as consistency, and you can’t buy that for any price.

    • Because you're twisting it to hold it open. Forearms, etc. shouldn't be all that tense at setup.
