My local county golf association is having a junior amateur tournament in august. I am not going to enter until i see my progress and hopefully my average dropping throughout the summer. It is two weeks before school golf starts so do you think i should play it if i feel i have the ability to play. I would say that if i can consistently shoot about a 80-85 i will go and play it. What do you think? It is only $30 bucks for 18 holes on a decent course that i have played before (front 9 only).

sign up and play regardless if your game is ready or not. The experience will be invaluable and you will learn so much from playing the tournament that it will help accelerate the improvement in your golf game.

This a no brainer, in fact don't even think about it "Just Do It"

if your goal is to improve your golf game, this is a good start.

I agree with the previous posters - just sign up and go out there and have fun. Don't put the extra pressure on yourself "if I shoot between 80 to 85..". As we all know when you pull that club out on the first tee you never know what kind of day you're going to have as far as score goes but hey you're out there playing - having fun and LEARNING. Go for IT!!!

This is the opposite of what i have been telling myself. I normally shoot around a 45 right now and have just put a ban on anything from 47 and up. My goal is to ban 44's and up entering the month of july. I think i do need pressure put on me to achieve my goals. If i don't think about it and just go golf all willy nilly i don't think the goal will be accomplished.... i think i will sign up now though. That way i have something to strive to play well in right before the high school season starts.
