IN comparison to the level of clubs, which club do you tend to "go for broke" on.

Examples:

Scotty Cameron rather than a run of the mill shop putter

The NEW technology driver rather than the one that comes with the set.

The SPIN wedges that are in golf digest rather than a walmart special.

When it comes to clubs, I spend the most on wedges because I don't buy them used. All my other clubs were purchased second hand.

As far as general equipment is concerned, the money is generally spent on shafts.

Titleist 905T Accra SC75 M4 Shaft

Nike SQ 4W Accra T70 M4 Shaft

I know it's "Drive for Show, Putt for Dough", but I think the Driver is important. For me, a good drive sets the stage for the hole. The closer I drive to the green, the better I feel. A hole that starts with a nice, long (for me) drive in the middle of the fairway just increases my confidence. I know everyone has their own opinions, but for me, I will end up shelling out more for a driver than anything else (except complete iron sets).

Steve

Driver - $150ish (birthday present)
fairway wood- $130 (impulse buy)
2h- $100 (impulse
irons- $125 + 3 iron (xmas present don't know amount)
wedges- 125$ (30$ram + xmas present cg11)
putter- 130$

Pretty even. Technically it would be fairway wood/hybrid.. The two clubs I use the least.

Wedges will hopefully go up this year.

Although my putter wasn't very expensive, it's my most important club, in my opinion. It's also the one I need to work on most, but hey, who doesn't need to work on their putting?

I would definitely spend more on Irons (granted I am a College Student & don't have much cash right now) because I would just wait a year or year and a half and get the driver for 50% cheaper or more in some cases. I will never buy another putter because I love my Ping Craz-e so that narrows the choices down to Irons basically. Not to mention you play Irons more than any other club

Driver: $150
3 Wood: $100
Irons $350
Hybrid: $100
Wedges: $75 each
Putter: $105

I probably have spent the most money on wedges. Ive had to replace at least one of the two that i carry for the last 3 seasons. Ill probably have to replace my 54 by the end of the summer. I also went through a loft expermentation phase that added up too. I probably have at 10-12 vokeys sitting at home. (in various condition)

All of the above.

I buy/play the clubs that I consider best suited for my game......no matter what the club happens to be, without real regard to cost. If it's a $50 wedge, that's great, but if the right wedge costs 3 times that, so be it.

It's worth noting though, I don't change clubs often.....I need to have a very compelling reason to do so.

In David's bag....

Driver: Titleist 910 D-3;  9.5* Diamana Kai'li
3-Wood: Titleist 910F;  15* Diamana Kai'li
Hybrids: Titleist 910H 19* and 21* Diamana Kai'li

Wedges: Scratch 51-11 TNC grind, Vokey SM-5's;  56-14 F grind and 60-11 K grind

being left handed and a component person, alot of my purchases have been "experiments"

for instance, I purchased a set of the Acer XC wedges and I love them. They cost approx. $20 a wedge to assemble.

On the other hand, I have a set of irons (grand Hawk XP-20's) that I am not as "impressed" with, and have seriously considered abandoning them and going back to my older Dynacraft irons.

by total cost, I have spent the most money on different drivers because I am still looking for the right combo.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I would say irons. IMO, the irons are the most important clubs in the bag.
Ive dabbled in the "premium" putters such as Camerons, Bettinardis and T.P. Mills and they really arent any better than any $90-$150 Ping or Odyssey putter.
I would say that drivers are a close 2nd though. With the new driver technology that has come out lately, with all the adjustability that today's drivers offer; that would be something to consider.
I recently went from a Mizuno MX-560 to a TM R9 and Ive noticed a night and day difference in my driving.

Whats in my :sunmountain: C-130 cart bag?
