Yes it is easy to hit the ball in the forehead, yes it is easy to get to handsy and hit it fat! however it is easy to hole out or get it close on those little 15 -30 foot pitch/chip shot's you encounter every round because it always seems you misson the wrong side of the green. Practice practice practice with this club and you'll find you love hitting those little 30-40yrd pitch shot's that instesd of flying over the green sit tight around 5-10 feetand those little chip shot's that roll by and leave you the 5 footer coming back turn into 8 inch kick in's. Bye it practice with it and you'll love it.

I disagree that high handicapers should stay away.. I play off 28 and love my 60. I find it no harder to hit than my other shot irons...

Consistency (at my level any way) is about the same as the rest of my bag and it gives you a few more options..

My 2 cents!

I'd second that.A player's handicap tends to reflect their overall game, not a single aspect of their game.I'm not great with a driver but I can chip and flop like Phil himself.Well.. not really, but you know what I mean.

A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

I used to carry a 52, 56, and 60. I didn't like the 56 and couldn't get the roll I wanted with the 60. The 60 is great in tight shots with little or no green to work with. At the beginning of last season I had the 56 bent to a 58 because I was constantly second guessing my self when I had both the 56 and 60 in my bag. I found that you can get the same type of flop shots as the 60 and a little more roll on chips and pitch shots. That would be my recommendation. Go for a 58 but make sure you a good gap wedge such as a 52 or 54 for the farther chip shots and the bump and run shots.

I've been carrying a 58° wedge, but it hasn't even been used in a couple of months. I'm probably going to leave it out whenever golf becomes feasible around here again. My 56° Vokey has been my workhorse, so I'm just going to focus on that, with some help on longer chips with the 52° Vokey and my 47° Titleist PW.

I am looking for a new lob wedge
I have it down to the Vokey 60.04 and the cleveland CG12 DSG 60.04.
Which would you reccomend? I will be using the club from 30 yards and in for high soft shots. Spin isnt a priority either.

little bounce to make my bag more versatile

i have a standard 50.10, a high 56.14 so a low bounce lob wedge seems to make sense

    • Shot a 48, with not lost ball, no penalties, no bunkers, no 2nd short game shots, and no three putts.
    • Day 5 - extremely long range practice session. Probably one of my best practice sessions ever. Doing things in slow motion is like 5x'ing the effectiveness of the practice. Also, I need these same "falling into lead leg" feels on my wedges. And guess what? Practicing this feel on shorter wedges is ALSO EASIER AND MORE EFFECTIVE. Combining much slower than full speed practice with shorter (50-90 yard) shot practice was really good. Change the picture on these shorter shots first. Feel like I'm keeping my arms as straight as possible on the backswing while hinging my wrists earlier is an incredible feel. I feel like this is doing stuff to my sequencing somehow? Much less rushed at the top because hinging was done at a reasonable time? One note someone made on my swing thread before I went on a hiatus was regarding this so I played around with it.  Clubs that don't require as much weight/pressure shift feel fantastic (driver/3-wood/hybrid), but that's almost always been the case.

    • Correct, just like relief from a sprinkler head; you can't take a giant stance to put it in play (unless of course that is genuinely how you play). If you take your normal stance and water is visible you get relief, if you have to jump to stand on one foot to get it to show no relief. IF the rule was that if you could get water to show at all, there would have been nowhere on that course anyone could play. I can't comprehend why the ruling has become so controversial, I think Sam called 2 officials to see if one would maybe be more lax than the other, but besides that he knew the rule which is why even he didn't make a huge deal out of it to either offical.
    • But......but what if I wanted to play the gold tees......☹️
