Number 3 on the Quarry 9 at Joondalup Resort. Going short, long or right on this hole results in a big score. This hole always has me nervous at the tee If you hit the green though you feel great!

That does look fun

Here is a drawing of my most "loved" hole, #13 Longbow GC Mesa AZ.

From the 2nd set of tees, #13 plays 402 yards.

First the tee shot.

To safely cut the corner, the tee ball must carry at least 225 yards, but the farther left you go, the more carry is needed. For me, my best drives might carry 225-230 so cutting the corner is an iffy proposition.

The bunkers straight away are about 255. So, a well struck shot played to the middle of the fairway to avoid the water can run into the bunker or thru the fairway leaving you with a hook stance lie.

Chickening out too far to the right leaves you with +/-200 yard shot to the green.

So let's say we have made a well placed shot down the middle short of the bunkers and that should leave a mid-iron second shot of about 160-170 to the middle of the green.

Now let's look at that second shot. A long and skinny green is guarded by bunkers right and water left. The bank on the left side of the green is shaved so anything missing the green left will roll into the water.

A fearless swing is needed to get the ball on the green. Anything pulled left is in the water. No bailout to the right, two bunkers await. A shot from those bunkers gives a THIRD chance at the water.

I've taken to hitting basically a "worm burner" second shot that finishes short of the green and then play for an up and down. For me, par is like a birdie on this hole and I'm quite happy to come away with a bogey.

It's my favorite hole.

^^^

that hole almost kind of reminds me of 18 at sawgrass. awesome.

ending up in those greenside bunkers would leave a pretty scary bunker shot.

This is at Towa golf resort near Santa Fe, NM. Island green, downhill 170 or so. The first time I played this hole I was so freaked out I shanked my tee shot down into a group of trees off to the right!

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
