Putting: SBST vs Arc

I tried SBST about 5 years ago and quickly went back to arc. In order to accomplish SBST, you have to perform a lot of tiny manipulation moves with the shoulders. It was impossible for me to make a consistent stroke with SBST.

In order to maintain a putter head square on a straight line during the backstroke, I felt like my rear shoulder was flexing forward a little then extending backward slightly on the forward stroke.

Think of the shoulders as a ball and socket joint. Ball and socket joints function best for circular motions.

I agree with this. Even if you watch Steve Stricker whom calls himself a SBST putter his putter move back and forward on a slight arc. It almost has to!
