I want to get a trainer that is used indoors (or out) and that will improve my contact with the ball (for use with irons or a hybrid).
Anyone have any good suggestions?
I have seen several items including items like:

I was asked:
"What is your handicap?"
I replied:
"Golfing is my handicap!"

Why not a weighted club? May help your swing

That "thing" pictured above is...what's the word...?? Never mind. Not going to offened the folks that live an alternative lifestyle that play golf. So with that said a weighted club would be one good suggestion. Another would be a "slow motion drill" that Harvey Penick subscribed to in his "Little Red Book" He describes swing a a club very slowly to set the club in the right spots and repeat. It's a muscle memory thing. I think it works pretty well. Not only does it help retain the feeling of the correct positions I think it helps understanding of the swing. Just my two cents.

That's what I've been doing. It seems to help.

Your best training aid is already in your bag

A wedge.

Learn how to swing it well, then emulate that swing with every other club in the bag. I made my biggest breakthrough in golf after I tore a rotator cuff about 6 years back. I could not even adjust the rear view mirror in the car. Could not throw a ball over handed. You get the point. I took the wedges out to the driving range a time or two a week. The only club in the bag I could really swing to be honest. The pain was there if I took a full swing. I was really doing 1/2 to 3/4 swings with the wedges. After a while, I had dialed in a very accurate and repeatable swing with those wedges. Finally, got back to the golf course with my full set, playing once a week or so. Swung about 50% for that year while the rotator cuff healed. Guided by muscle memory and holding back in fear of re-injury, I swung all my clubs like wedges. Force and tempo anyway. Funny enough, I did not loose much distance with my driver and long irons. I was amazed. What I did find is that for the first time in my life I was hitting the center of the clubface (more or less). But at any rate, this was the best thing that ever happened to my golf game.

I bought this Sklz Accelerator last year on a whim and just used in the back yard as a very weighted practice club . Then my son started taking it to the driving range as a warm up tool. The ball bearings in the shaft are a gimmick but the club is great for warming up. It's very pricey but I'm glad I got it.

I'm not a big one on swing trainers but I can't argue with the Momentus swing trainer. You could simply swing two clubs at once but the grip trainer is an added bonus.

The best golfing aid trainer there is yourself and another club on the ground to check alignment. (personally) i dont think any of those training aids work. They're just some kind of physcological crutch. Its up to you to find the swing, imo.

You don't have to injure yourself to improve your golf game, but it would help I never realized how much tension was in my swing until I had to cut it back. The looser muscles used doing partial swings turned out to hit the ball just about as far. But with the smoother swing, I was hitting it straighter. All we hear is more power, more power, grip it and rip it. That philosophy ruins many a golf swing.
