Hello,

I am looking to change my grips and was wondering how long after getting them changed would you have to wait to play with your clubs?

I'm going to be playing at about 1PM tomorrow and would like to get my grips changed before hand. I know I should have taken care of it today but I didn't have the time.

Anyway, I was thinking about going to Roger Dunn right when they open. If I get them changed right then, would you think that I can use my clubs to play at 1?

Any info is appreciated. Thank you!

I had some regripped last week and was told I could use them in a few hours. Just be sure to ask the guy when you drop the clubs off. Whatever he says, do it.

Hello,

The next day is more than fine. I've been told everytime to wait 5-6 hours

If you use an organic solvent, recommended 6 hrs+

If they are being replaced the traditional way with tape and solvent, you should wait at least 3 hours. Keeping the clubs out of the bag and in the air & sunlight will expedite the drying process.

I've used clubs within an hour after new grips with no ill effect. Overnight is overkill. Most of these "techs" are clueless and just stating the old standard lines. The shop may even use the compressed air method which will allow immediate usage.

Seems like mixed opinions on the length of time. Anything more resolute? The shop said about an hour. They will open soon so I want to make a decision.

If you really want to play it safe, why not play one more round on your old grips and get them changed afterwards?

I've waited as little as 2 hours and it held up ok.

    • Day 39: did top golf for an hour with the family. It was fun but also not really like real golf at all. Also did some mirror work - working on the backswing stuff mostly.
    • Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.
    • Day 143 1-2 Arch wrist in downswing. Having a SLIGHT cup in the lead wrist at the top now. Only paused swings with some rehearsals before swinging at ball.  Used foam ball.
    • Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).
