The ferrule disconnected from the clubhead on my 7-iron. I know this is not a huge deal, as it is an easily-correctable problem, but the question I have is this: Will the disconnected ferrule have any impact on the performance of the club? Just in case it's necessary, here's a picture.

Hopefully (I can't tell in the photo), the ferrule glue just let loose and is riding back up the shaft and NOT that the clubhead glue has loosened and now the clubhead is loose. Just because you can't twist the clubhead with your hands, doesn't mean it didn't come unglued.

If you want to fix it yourself, heat the clubhead with a torch or heat gun (you'll need a new ferrule) until the head loosens up (use an oven mit or pliers). Re-ferrule the shaft and re-glue the head in place.

Or take it to a shop that fixes clubs, just to make sure the head isn't loose.

The ferrule on one of my 7-irons spins around. It's just a loose ferrule and has no impact on the playability of the club.

But yeah, make sure the clubhead's not loose... even if the odds of that being true are about 1 in 100 or lower.

I had the same thing happen with my driver. I was told that it wouldn't have any impact on play at all (played with it for about a year and couldn't tell the difference). It wasn't completely loose, but it had slid up the shaft a bit. It came more loose around the time I was playing in a Nationwide Pro-Am. Since I had my clubs at the course I just took it to the Titleist tour truck and showed them. They told me it wouldn't matter but they fixed it anyway. All they did was loosen it the rest of the way, put in some more epoxy, slid it back into place and I was on my way.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

There's a tiny gap between the ferrule and clubhead on my 5-iron, but I haven't noticed anything negative when I use it.

If the ferrule can't be slid down, it's stuck, run it under hot water to expand it, move it a bit, dry, 2part epoxy (a little) in top of the iron hosel, press down and let it dry.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

Yeah thats no big deal as long as the club head isnt loose. The ferrules on my 5 and 4 irons have a little bit of a gap too. Most times, you can just slide them back down with a cloth and a vice grip.
