I can not believe the Monty meltdown. We've all talked about the Phil melting, but Monty.switched clubs to a shorter one right before he swung, and put it the one place he COULD NOT par from- short right. I don't know if there was some caddy problem or bad advice there, but did anyone else notice that Monty's caddie took off his yellow caddie garb BEFORE leaving the 18 green to head to the clubhouse? Interesting.

Well, unfortunately for Monty, it didn't matter what club he hit. It was as close to a shank as professionals hit under those circumstances. He knew it when he hit it.

I figured it would start out over the left side of the green and work its way back, and when I saw it start off at the right bunker, I knew something was wrong.

Man, I was wanting Monty to win this one. He bounced back so well after his opening nine holes on Saturday to stay in contention. It was pretty heartbreaking really.

Camera angles are very deceiving. Virtually everyone's ball looks like it starts way right - even those who hit, like Monty does, a fade. I've seen shots on TV that look like they're going two fairways over to the right, but they are actually left of the flag and fading. You've seen enough golf on TV to know this...

Monty hit the ball fat, in his own words, and it started left and cut just a little to wind up at the pin, but woefully short. Jeff picked Monty in the podcast on Friday, and he nearly had it. He should have had it. As he also said in the press conference - he did the hard part. He hit the fairway. People are forgetting his three-putt after his bad chip/pitch - a two-putt would have gotten him into a playoff.

That was just heartbreaking. I think thats the last we'll see of Colin Montgomery, but don't quote me on that.

Extremely disappointing finish for Monty. He played wonderfully all week long... it was good to see after a couple of tough years. Plus, dude... Monty... couldn't you have validated my pick!!!?

    • Without knowing the study at all, this could be more of a reflection of who is tournament ready and who isn't. If you have a quick trigger, it could mean your swing is working really well. Fidgeting, lots of rehearsals, maybe means your swing's not functioning as well as you'd like it to and you need more time to feel it all out before you hit your shot.
    • A study done by the European Tour shows spending less time over the ball produces better shots.  This makes sense. I can see where if you are over the ball a long time you lose the ability to make a more athletic swing. There is also the possibility of just overthinking the shot while over the wall as well and not being in the right headspace.
    • I recently picked up a vintage Ping Hoofer Lite carry bag.  I am not sure how old it is but estimate it is probably from around 2012 or so? I cannot figure out how to adjust the straps! I am going to try to attach a picture of the bag and will also describe it below. I cannot figure out how to adjust the straps in a way that makes the bag comfortable to carry.  The bag also seems to want to be more upright/ vertical than how you would normally carry a bag like this. I have tried to search this site and others on the web but almost all info is on the newer ping Hoofer bags which have quite a different design. The bag is pretty minimal in terms of pockets and has no handle on the top.  It has 2 backpack straps that are not connected to each other.  They are connected to the top of the bag and in the middle of the bag above the primary ball/ gear pocket. Any feedback appreciated, thanks for your help!
