how much do golf shoes matter

I agree with others in saying dont be cheap on shoes. Especially if you walk often. The main difference between a lower line shoe, and a more expensive one like a dry joy are the uppers. The leather uppers are better contructed, better waterproofed, and more durable. I use Addias 360 tour line of shoe and ive had my current pair for over a year and a half. No issues. I paid over close to 200 for them, but worth every penny.

I too think proper fit is the most important aspect of the shoe. Price is not the issue when it comes to proper fit. Proper fit shoes will also last longer and will be much more comfortable. Performance wise, if your feet don't slip when you swing, the shoe is doing it's job.

I had another thought. I seem to recall that with every pair of Nike golf shoe that I have owned, the tongue seems to slip to the side. Anyone else notice this?

The shoes I have now are Walter Hagen from Dick's. They weren't that expensive, fit perfect, keep my tootsies nice and dry, and don't slip even in wet conditions (I did upgrade to soft spike cleats). I was a bit leery when I bought them since they weren't a big name, but they have been awesome and I walk most of the time.
