Chipping around the green < 25 yards

Will you play a different club for chipping if you know the grain of the grass on the green ?

One that go against you and another follow ?

Never gave it a moments thought. Although in my area of play, grain does not play a big part on the greens. I would think that unless the ball will be rolling the entire time across the green it won't matter. If the ball lands and rolls 2 feet I doubt that the grain will have much to do with it. I doubt I would play a different club anyway, I would just hit the same same shot only a little harder or softer if I felt the grain would effect the ball.

I have read and heard a lot about getting the ball rolling on the green as soon as possible, but I have not read or heard anyone recommend a different shot for more grain. Raymond Floyd has a great book and had a great VHS tape on this subject, I think named "60 yards and in". I looked and that VHS is not on DVD. That was a good tape and worth looking for.

I would take more loft to get past a bad portion of the green if I am playing on a course where not all the grass on the green is nice, or to take out a double or more break, but that is the only time for me.
