What are the advantages that one has over the other? The R7's are a bit more expensive than the Sumo but that's the only advantage I see that the Nike has. I haven't swung either of them. I'm going to Scheels soon to go hit some different clubs, but before that can you tell me which one you prefer and why?

The r7's are much better I would say they would fit inbetween players cavity backs and game improvement. They are worth the extra money you will not be dissapointed.

I would go with the new nike sling shots over both of those but if you have to have one of those go with the r7 and I'm a nike guy

R7's much more classic look, feel is way better, you can grow with them.

Sumo's are MAX Game improvemnt irons. Super forgiving, the feed back would teach you much when you miss hit.

I just bought r7's and haven't looked back. I will be hitting these for a while. Great feel, forgiving, but workable as well. Never hit Nike's before so can't knock them.
BIG r7 fan now.........

YOU'RE STILL OUT!!

Played the Burners and Sumos

Went with the Sumos - super game improvement - great for beginners/high handicappers/mid handicappers...

I have taylormade R7s and I will have them for a very long time. They're very nice for higher handicap players

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
