After seeing that which is harder hole in one or shooting under par thread, I got thinking about shooting a hole in one and started wondering what is the longest hole in one ever recorded on a PGA tour event?

"But there's also one hole-in-one known to have occurred on a straightaway par-5. This monster drive was achieved at altitude on the No. 9 hole at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver in 2002. The shot was 517 yards in length, and the golfer who got the ace was Mike Crean. This ace is believed to be the longest ever recorded."

On the PGA Tour, I'd have to guess Andrew Magee, 17th hole at 2001 Phoenix Open. Definitely wasn't deliberate: he hit first because he thought he couldn't reach the green. The ball hit Tom Byrum's putter, but was declared a legal ace. Coincidentally, Byrum had finished runner up at Magee's first ever PGA Tour win, 13 years before this happened.
