Browsing my local golf shop today as I often do. Start talking with the owner who knows I've been lusting over the MP-57's for quite awhile. He makes me an offer on the display set that I couldn't refuse. Quick call to the wife to let her know that father's day can be taken care of. She gives the green light and I can't wait to hit the links!!!

Congrats! I play them myself and they are wonderful. Finding the sweet spot is the best and watching the ball fly out without feeling it ever hit the club. They say it's like butter, if so, it's melted butter on a warm day.

What's up with saying that you got a great deal and then not posting what the great deal was?

Congrats on the purchase. I might be on to my second set of Mizuno Players' Irons before too long.

Yep. Have had mine about a year. I got a similar proposal from a guy at a local golf shop. He gave them to me for $650 last June. Couldn't pass on that offer. They are awesome though, you will enjoy.. Congrats.

Be interested to know what you were playing previous to these, and what you notice the differences are.

Congrats!

$650? My deal wasn't that great but still good enough to convince the wife. I got them for $720, he had them listed for $899.

I was playing the Adams A2 OS. This is the set that has hybrid 3-6 irons and cavity back PW-7. As I mentioned earlier I hit the Adams pretty well. I did find that they were pretty hard to work draws and fades. They consistantly wanted to go straight. And I was growing quite tired of the look of the hybrids as I was standing over them. The Mizuno's look fantastic. My pre-shot routine now includes a slight delay to admire the view.

I demoed the MP-57s 7-8 times before I bought them. As many of said, you can't beat the feel of the Mizuno's. When you hit them pure there is no better feeling. When you hit them off center they will let you know exactly where you hit them. I was quite pleased with the mishits, might lose some distance but nothing too major.

I played 27 holes with them this weekend and loved them. Still working out my yardages so didn't score where I wanted 84 and 41 but I know once I get them dialed in my HI will drop.

Spent some time on the range and found that they are much easier to work. I'm now in the market for a replacement hybrid or maybe a 3 or 5 wood. But don't tell my wife. Looking at the Nike hybrids that will match my driver. Time to start demoing and getting back my shop credit.

Oh and by the way, Adams are for sale, with a nice Adams cart bag to go with them. I have them listed on craigslist. I guess I should post them in the marketplace as well.

Just curious, how much distance do you think you lost? For comparisons sake do you know your AVG. swing speed?

I've only been on a launch monitor once, quite awhile ago. If I remember correctly I think I was swinging a 6 iron around 112? Haven't nailed down the loss of distance but I'm beginning to think it might not be that much. Approximately 5 yards? I should have a better idea after this week.

My other concern was that the Adams were stiff shafts and the MP-57's are regular flex. Maybe that would be the cause for loss of distance? Regardless, I'll take the minor decrease in length for the feel and workability.

Wow, you were swinging a 6 at 112 and you went to regular shafted irons? It must feel like a noodle to you.

I must be way off as I don't recognize a difference in flex. This will give me an excuse to go by the golf shop today during lunch. When speaking about your swing speed is it typically driver swing speed?

Got mine MP-57's from eBay for $425, used, but not more than what I wear for a round or two.

Typically yes. It could be your BALL speed was 112 with a 6-iron.

Boy was I way off... Hit the golf shop during lunch. Swung a few full swings with driver and my average was between 102 and 103 with a high of 105. After thinking about it and talking with the owner who fitted me for my previous irons we remember the 6 iron speed to be in the upper eighties, 88 if I remember. Oh well, at least I know now.

Mentioned to the owner my concern about going from stiff shafts to regular shafts in the MP-57's. His opinion was that the DG300 shafts are a stiff regular shaft in comparison to a lighter Graffaloy type of graphite shaft. I told him I hadn't noticed a difference. I'm playing a regular flex shaft in my driver and he seemed somewhat concerned about that with my swing speed but I told him that I'm actually happy where my driver is.

Off to a demo day to try out some hybrids to come up with a 200-210 yard club...

Those must be stiffer than normal regulars. I swing the driver on average 102 or so, and whenever I hit anyone else's regular flex clubs, it drives me nuts.
