Loook at all these guys who are near the lead, at least a few. I mean, Kenny Perry and Paul Goydos, specifically. It just goes to show how "overrated" the "look" of your swing is. As long as you get into the right positions, and obviously most importantly at impact, that's all that really matters.

You are so right. Good observation. And do not forget the "unorthodox" swing of Jim Furyk. Sometimes, people put too much emphasis on "form". What is important is timing, and the right position in the hitting zone and at impact. That is why I allow for individual characteristics in a student's swing when I give lessons. There really is no one way to get the job done.

Yeah, for sure. I used to care what my swing looked like so much. Recently my instructor taped it, put it on V1 video software and it looked very very good, at least much better than I expected. I take it a little bit too far on the back swing, a bit too much late hinge at the top, which is caused my a slight too much shoulder turn, but nothing major. I just don't particularly care what it looks like anymore, all I'm focused on is dropping strokes off game.

the TPC River Highlands is a nice course, but it is boring to look at on TV. The course has no defining characteristics to make it unique to the region it is being played. The course looks overcalculated and bland. These homogenized TPC courses are ruining the uniqueness of tour stops.

My big issue with River Highlands is that the hole that gets all the attention (#15) is just a terrible hole. For a driveable par 4 to have any strategic value, there must be some reason not to go for the green off the tee: a path that requires a fade or draw, a small green that requires a wedge to hold, hazards that, if not carried or avoided with an on-line drive, make par difficult, a small run-up area near the green. 15 has none of those. The bunkers and trees short left are out of play; the fairway in front of the green is 40 yards wide; the lake is only a danger if one yanks a drive way left, and it's easy to get up and down from the margin; the green is large and flat. It's impossible for a pro to make less than par on 15, and the only reason it isn't a par 3 is because the course would then be a par 69, and the hole that follows it is a one-shotter. It was probably a tougher hole 20 years ago, but the pros eat it up today.

You have the right attitude. There is no such thing as "the perfect swing". The guy who had it is playing golf with God---Lord Byron Nelson. No one can repeat like his swing or Ben Hogan's. They all try; they all fail. We will never see any golfer as good as those two, and their records attest to that.

Congrats to Kenny Perry. Seems like his collapse at the Masters is finally behind him. His game is looking good and I believe that he will win few more tournaments even at an age of 48, pretty amazing. I doubt he will win a major though.
