Hello all,

Having spent the last week watching Ernie Els and Adam Scott play the Heineken Classic on the famed Royal Melbourne Layout not far from me I saw some new Titleist gear in the flesh. Ernie had his new Titleist driver on display. And he had some new forged cavity itons 735cb i think could not remember the name of the driver it was a 9 series and Adam had his 670 or prototypes.

But on friday Els went back to his trusty blades.

Does anybody know of any sites which has sneak previews of the upcoming models. As after some heavy testing of Mizuno and Titleist I am going with Tiltleist! But only have hit the 690 Mb and want to know If i should wait for anything. Like the 670 or 680 or any of the upcoming models!

What do you all think?

The driver Ernie is playing with is called the 905, it's a new deep faced 400 cc driver Titleist is about to come out with in mid March. There's a thread in this forum with some pictures of it too. Interesting hearing about Ernie's cavity back clubs, I know his 2 iron is usually a cavity back. I would have pegged him as a hard core blade player and with $$$ on the line, I wouldn't think he'd eperiment too much. Neat news!

I read about another person who played golf with Adam Scott last week and he had pictures of Adams equipment, and his irons were labeled as 680's, but with the custome grinds and equipment pros get, who knows.

Titleist has been super tight lipped about their new products, so any information is subject to change, but as far as I know in March the new 905 driver, 904 fairway woods, and spin milled vokeys will be out. A month later the updated V1, V1X, and NXT balls will be out. I wouldn't wait for new irons, everything I've been hearing recently is that irons will not be introduced until August or later in the year.

Hope this helps answer some of your questions.

I'll second what Kiran said about all of the above. Perhaps the only new irons available will be the 735s, from what people have said, and potentially 695s, though that is quickly becoming myth-like.

If you like the 690.mb, you won't be able to hit the 680. Just look on the Titleist site and see if the differences between the two are the way you want to go. The 680 is a smaller blade with a higher muscle back and thus a lower ball flight over the 690.mb.

I have a 983K right now, and last I heard Adam hasn't switched to the 905 because he likes his 983 just fine. I'm not certain what I'll be doing with my driver, but I'm 99% confident I'll be getting some 680s this month.

    • The term I hear most often is "double teeing" which means the course/club has starting times from both the #1 and #10 tee.  I have encountered this many times and we know if we are the first group off #10, we may well get to #1 and have to wait because there are groups still with tee times yet to tee of #1.  In most instances, where the course/club has a starter, he normally explains this situation.  In this case, the pro advised what you would could/would encounter making the turn to #1.  And, that is exactly what happened.  Probably would have been wise to talk to the pro after playing back 9 and ask when you could go off #1 since apparently that club does not double tee.   Regardless, the outburst towards the other group was uncalled for.  And, I don't blame the member for being upset.  As a member of a private club, you are responsible for the actions of your guest.  I have played many times as a guest in the UK and I am pretty damn sure my host was responsible for my actions while at the club.  I know at the clubs I have belonged to here in the US, that is the way it is.  As a matter of fact, the member may find himself being brought before management and facing possible suspension.  So, I don't blame him for being upset.  However, as the host, he really should have stepped up and put a stop to the OP's actions.  OP makes this statement "I now understand that standards are different on the "private course." But I'll take those lessons to the muni, too."  No, the standards are not different.  You, sir, seem to be just a bit hard headed and belligerent, even if you are college professor...which possibly explains a lot.   JMHO
    • Day 32: worked for about 10 minutes on my drill. Filmed it as well for a check in. I think it’s slightly better but still seeing some issues.
    • Day 44 (26 Dec 25)  -  played in the Friday men’s shootout with a twist - used the Toney Penna persimmons and MacGregor blades - had a blast playing these clubs.  They really help in zoning in on making solid ball contact.  Scoring was solid - had several looks at birdie and had a few par saves.  Overall a day of focused course management.
    • Day 2: 2025.12.27 Eighteen holes at Kauri Cliffs. Focusing on trying to keep flex in right leg during backswing.
