I've been doing pretty well lately, shooting around the low 80s. I have a few tournaments and tryouts for the team coming up soon. There's a few things that are kind of screwing me up.

1. Driver (sometimes). The ball is solid but goes medium-low and pulls to the left a lot.

My ideas:
Perhaps I'm going to far upwards and coming across the ball. I'm teeing it up on the left side and moving the ball back in my stance (more on the inside of my left foot). Helps me stay on the path.

2. Pitching (apprx. 30-50 yards): Just today, I just started to hit behind the ball a bit and not chunking but going under the ball sort of. It goes low and not far. This only happened today, and I did like 10 shots from the same place and it turned out ok.

Ideas:
Just wanted to know how to fix this if it ever comes back...

3. Long Irons: Sometimes, I'm hitting it off to the right (not making a divot)

Ideas:
Focus on hitting a divot and rotating my wrists so that it goes straight.

4. (Just added this) Is it possible to spin the ball on the green when you're only like 10-20 yards away? Does it depend on the green? Most of the time now, it rolls quite a bit so ... yeah. Is there a technique that will help the ball spin more?

Thanks for reading all that :] I just wanted to know if my ideas were good and if you could comment and anything you guys see.

My $.02

1. If you're pulling driver you're coming over the top. Shoulders could be starting before lower body, also could be really flat at the top forcing you to compensate and come over the top.

I fight this more with long irons than driver but i get really flat and lay the club off. My solution has been to hold a laser pointer in my hands as I grip the club and as I'm taking the club back make sure the butt of the club is pointing at the ball. gets me on a better plane and stops my over the top move.

2. Pitching ... Work on the 9-3 drill it will help you in taking a less than full swing (and will improve your full swing shots also). once you start striking the ball solid like that it will be fun to see what kind of touch you can play with certain shots.

3. I'll leave to others

4. Yes, it's possible to spin it. I hit low shots that check up from 10-20 yards. takes a good ball, good lie and good contact and you have to strike down on it. Can't sweep it up there and expect it to spin

    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
