I decided today that I would begin facing my biggest fear in golf... No, it's not playing in front of strangers. It's the scorecard - the permanent record.

I kept saying that I would start scoring every round and tracking a handicap once I was satisfied with my swing. But after hitting thousands of balls and spending countless hours watching frame-by-frame video, I realized today that I'll probably never be truly satisfied (who is?) and that I should stop hiding from the scorecard - stop living in blissful ignorance and face the numbers.

So, no mulligans. No picking up my ball in the middle of a bad round. No excuses. From this point forward I'm just going to try my best and let the scorecard tell it like it is.

I have to say, it took me a while to get over the jitters this afternoon. It was exhilarating.

Shot 91 (47 on the front, 44 on the back)
10/14 fairways
4 GIR
39 putts

I feel like I just posted nude photos of myself.

Now I'm looking forward to establishing a legitimate handicap and working towards lowering it. I can see how much of this game I've been missing out on.

I started using that scorecard application (you see up top), as I too used to be afraid of all those numbers and never looked at all aspects of how I got my score but only the final result. It actually helped me figure my game out a fair bit by using the program, putting in numbers and seeing whats working and what isn't.

Now this seems like a advertisement for scorecard, but I guess what I am getting at is once you get over the fear and keep track as it is and see where you are losing shots your game will improve greatly. So congratulations on keeping track of those statistics through the game, and keep on keeping track

record your up and down attempts to save par, birdies and even one putt to save boogies.
