I stopped using them because they still fly too far for me. Driver/Woods/Hybrid/Long Irons all shoot out of my yard, across the street. And my house sits on an acre...

My own fault - after all the packaging says "1/3 the distance of a regular ball." So if you drive 220, the almost golf ball will go 70-80 yards. That's still pretty far, unless you live in a rural area.

I went back to the wiffle balls - they can still tell me if my drive is straight, a slice, or a push. The almost golf balls are really only good for short irons, or pitching. To be honest for pitching practice I use a real ball (and hope I don't shank it or blade it into a passing car).

I will give a sleeve of the Birdie Balls a try...

I've used several types:
plastic, dimpled, hollow, 2 types: rigid & soft
plastic, wiffle, 3 types: thick/rigid, thin/rigid, soft/rubbery
foam, solid, 2 types: firm/smooth & soft/dimpled
BirdieBalls

I want to see whether I'm giving the ball any sidespin, and the longest flight area I have is about 30 yards. The only balls I've found yet that meet these criteria well enough to suit me are the plastic, dimpled, hollow, soft balls. By "soft", I mean that the ball will significantly cave in well before you've squeezed hard enough to break an egg. There's a pinhole in the ball that lets it "deflate" when squeezed/hit, but it quickly re-inflates to normal shape. These balls are virtually indestructible, too. I don't think I've ever broken one. (And I broke PLENTY of the hard plastic wiffle balls before finding these.)

Does anyone know where to find these balls? I'm almost out of them (I occasionally lose them over a fence or into the storm drain), and I can't find them at a local retailer (Wal-Mart, Target, Dick's, Sports Authority). I bought them a few years ago, and I don't remember the manufacturer name or where I bought them. The plastic, hollow, dimpled balls I find online don't mention whether they're soft or rigid.

Help! Thanks,

Eric

I just got some of the Almost Golf Balls. I love them. We have lots open on both sides of our house so I have plenty of room to hit them. They are pretty accurate as well. I usually slice with my driver and they go right. I topped a ball and it only rolled about 15 yds. I'm glad I invested in them.
