Buying a putter from an ebay auction

I'm looking to buy and Odyssey putter from an ebay auction, but I've never done one before. I've bought stuff from ebay, but just not in an auction format. For those of you that have done it before, did you find it to be successful? The seller is 99.7% positive (it's a store) and there are several of the same putter for sale, so I'm not worried about that, but what struck me as odd are the usernames of the people who have bid on the item so far. For example:

r***1 US $20.50 n***aUS $20.00 e***v US $20.00 o***s US $0.99

The bidders for the other auctions of the same putter follow the same format, some letter followed by three asteriks and a letter or number. Is this odd? Do I have anything to worry about?

Driver: Cobra Speed Pro S X/10.5*
3W: TaylorMade Rescue
Irons: Adams Ovation 3 (4-LW)
Putter: Ping Zing 2i

Haha the first time I saw that on ebay I though a hacker or a computer was outbidding me, then I went to the FAQ's and found out that it's to hide other's identity. If you don't luck out with the putters, hit me up a pm.

Suggestion: decide how much you are willing to pay. Subtract shipping from that amount. Bid what is left.

eBay auctions are conducted very similar to VCG auctions. An optimal strategy in VCG auctions is to bid exactly what you're willing to pay; in this case, that means your bid is your highest willing price minus what they will charge for shipping.

If there are multiple of the item for sale, I guess you could try to actively jump around on which one to bid on, but that's a lot of work for very little payoff.

Make sure the photos are of the actual item and not stock photos from the manufacturer. That way you can ensure that you are not getting a knock-off.

No EBay does that to hide the identity of the people buying the product nothing to worry about.

      You might also consider a tune-up lesson. Check and see if anything in your set-up or basic swing is holding you back. I have been playing for more than five decades, but on occasion I've had to make swing tweaks due to age, loss of flexibility, etc. You don't have to reinvent your swing. A couple of static set-up changes might really help out.

      Good advice. In general, you want to take whatever weight you are lifting to a couple of reps before failure, for muscle growth. There are other tactics for PT related stuff. I would trust your PT person.  For muscle growth, you can go like 30 reps to failure. It is tougher to gauge. Also, it takes 2x as long to do the same number of working sets per week if you are doing 15 instead. It is way less efficient, but your case is special because of the injury/aggravation to the hip.

      Several years ago I got paired with a twosome of golfers, one of which had a maybe 5-year-old son with him. The kid had a putter and a 7i with him, and on some holes he would drop a ball near the green, chip on, and putt. If the kid started to get distracted, the dad would ask, "Do you need to rest?" The kid would nod yes, and then take his dad's seat riding in the cart for a couple of holes. It was a slow day, and the kid was polite and friendly. We got through 18 just fine. (If it had been a crowded course day, I'm sure it would have been less pleasant.)
