Anyone ever play any of the Kiawah Island courses?

I am planning a golf getaway to Kiawah Island, SC and wanted to get your opinions.

The courses are consistently in the Top 100 courses in the US, usually in the Top 25. However, I believe the Ocean Course is something like 300.00 plus caddie (another 75 or so). Did you think 375.00 is worth it for a round of golf? I can afford it, but value is a factor. Would I be better served spending that money on other courses in the area?

Speaking of which, did you play any other tracks in the area? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I have played the Ocean Course and Turtle Point. The Ocean Course is extremely difficult you will have much more fun on the other courses. You will not be dissapointed by not playing the Ocean Course it is best left to scratch golfers.

We were there a couple of years ago after they had punched the greens at the Ocean Course. Questioned whether it was worth paying $300+ to play on it punched. Did it anyway. Glad I did (even though it is extremely difficult) and would do it again if I went back.

honestly, i could not bring myself to pay that much for any course, that's just ludicrous. hell, i played the paris national albatross course, which is top ten in europe for a third of that price, and on the weekend to boot!

The original poster is planning to head to South Carolina, not France. Therefore, I'm not sure how this applies to the original poster's question of which course to play at Kiawah.

I've been fortunate enough to play all five public and two private courses at Kiawah. The Ocean Course is a great experience, it's tough yet so beautiful. Otherwise, Cougar Point is one of my favorites as is Oak Point. Oak is the cheapest and usually the least busiest, as it isn't technically on the island but Kiawah still owns it. Osprey has wide fairways and holds a decent challenge, Turtle has tighter fairways but is generally the most crowded. PM me if you want more details on Kiawah courses...
