Hey all -

new here, was reading over the Stats page. Got me searching on the web.

Anyone use or have used Intelligolf? ( www.intelligolf.com )

It seems to do everything we'd want - putts, ability to say wether shots were left, right, short long. Up and downs, sand saves - all that stuff. I know it works on palpilots and pocket pcs - but I doubt I'll be using that on the course - just the score card, and using the desktop software later on and entering everything.

Seems to work great, but will know better once I enter more rounds.

If anyone has used it - anyone tried out the GPS function?

Ok - I've got a few rounds entered in Intelligolf. WOndering if some of you better players can tell me.

Putts - On the PGA Tour - do they count putts from the fringe / off the green? Or are those still considered approach shots?

Example - say I'm off the green in the fringe - I make a 25 - 35 foot put and hole it. Would that count as 0 putts for the hole?

or

Say I put from the fringe - knock it close - then tap in. Would that technically be considered an up and down?

Here's the scorecard that program can spit out.

ScoreCard

also - here's Stats that program can spit out - this is taken from 3 rounds of 9 holes from the same executive course.

Stats Example

It also does this neat thing called dream Round - where it takes all rounds at a selected course into account and tells you what your best score would be if you took the lowest scores for each hole.

That's not a putt. It is however a "chip" or an attempt at an up-and-down.

Example - say I'm off the green in the fringe - I make a 25 - 35 foot put and hole it. Would that count as 0 putts for the hole?

Yep.

My software does that too, but calls it low and high (it takes your high scores too) eclectic.

Thx for the response.

I'm finding there are a few options for software on pocketpc and palm - and most of those options have desktop software as well for your computer. Prett cool stuff. Also - about 5 programs out there that can utilize a bluetooth wireless GPS unit. (or any GPS unit you can plug into your PDA.)
My software does that too, but calls it low and high (it takes your high scores too) eclectic.

Your software going to be MAC only? Going to be able to sync / have sister software for handheld devices in the future?

Right now I'm quite enjoying this software - but loving screenshots of others I may try as well. Jon

My software is desktop software. You keep track on a scorecard and enter your stats - five per hole - in about 30 seconds, total, after the round.

Currently Mac OS X only, but soon to be Windows too. Our definitions of "soon" may vary, though.

I used intelligolf for a while but I'm also a mac user and got too irritated having to power up a windoze peecee POS to take advantage of it.

I'm writing my own software which will be available online soon, and free.

Yeah - I think where intelligolf shines is on the pocketPC plactform - I think that's what it was developed for initially and the desktop softwrare was added after - who knows.

I use the nethandicap.com, its cheap 30 bucks for a usga handi instead of 50 at your club and it tracks all the same info, even makes charts and graphs which I find confusing but they look good

    • In my original post, the 'same thing' in relation to block practice of = 'how to handle the steering' not 'exact same turn 100 times'. There's a meaningful difference. Hope that clears the confusion. In any case I made a larger point in favor of block practice, ya know, repetition of a specific piece if done mindfully as a good thing, which I think is very much on topic. Matt's post ask a good question about learning a new motor pattern. Like how would you randomize 'make sure the club head goes outside the hands in the bs'? I would think it is literally the same move a 100 times = block practice right?
    • Day 437 - 2025-12-11 Got some backswing work done on GEARS today after testing out a few things. Backswing looking pretty good, generally speaking. I can… Hinge a little earlier. Stay right a little longer. Keep a little trail knee flex. I'll continue with that the rest of December, then re-assess. It may go to the middle of January or so, before I can do the downswing stuff again.
    • That post confused me. It's kinda been the whole topic here. Literally doing the same exact thing over and over again = block practice.
    • Day 31 (11 Dec 25) - Regripped my #1 putter and spent some time rolling the rock.  Worked on lagging the ball to set distances (ladder drill) and overall tempo.
    • If that's what defines block practice, then no, I haven't either. But the point is there is limited or no variable repetition required to learn steering/car turn relationship. I certainly have seen people repeat a bar '100 times' in learning a piano piece until they hit the notes in the right sequence and the right timing/tempo, before they move to the next bar and so on and forth.  I listened to Dr. R's podcast twice now, to make sure I'm not misunderstanding. It seems block practice is being equated to mindless hitting by some and deservedly gets a bad rap if so. I like what he said but think people can do 'random' just as mindlessly. I am preaching to the choir here but from my perspective this boils down to the being specific and mindful in your practice. Hitting 50 straight seven irons has it's value if it is done to specifically learn a hand position before delivery (random eg.), since the feel they are trying to internalize is universal regardless of the club. Eventually they need to vary the club to replicate the same feeling to add more variables.
