Dozen golf balls, natural color golf tees, several divot repair tools from majors I have attended (currently using a ball marker from The Bull here ), bug spray, sunscreen, Titleist gloves (I really like these over the Footjoy models), Taylormade microfiber towel, R7 wrench, Rules of Golf (current year), various Sharpies and if its a golf outing with some college buddies of mine, a bottle of scotch or rum mysteriously materializes in my bag.

Of course, if you asked me during my college years, I would have included the 12 pack of fermented beverages!

Interesting topic! I have to have 3 white ball markers in my pocket and I must be wearing my watch on my left wrist to help with wrist action (sounds dumb, but it works for me)... I guess I dont really need anything in my bag i guess...

Nice resurrection of an old post!

I always have a new glove (still in the package) in the bag just in case. I like to have an extra pencil, red Tiger Gatorade, a lighter, at least 18 white tees, spare cash.

Always gotta make sure there are a few bucks for when the snack cart comes around. Nothin' like eatin' a hot dog with a beer while playin' a good ol' game of golf. That's pure happiness.
Of course, if you have one of these bad boys, you'll be even better off!

Now they just need to make one that dispenses hot dogs!

Stuff that is always in/on my bag (when playing):

Clubs, duh
wallet, keys
Short sleeve rainshirt
Rainpants
Rainproof bucket hat
Cold weather knit cap
Golf Rules Quick Reference Guide
Yardage cards/books for several courses
rain gloves
small ball retriever
2 small spare towels (inside)
2 towels attached for regular usage (one to carry with me to ball and one on bag for cleaning clubs )
2-3 new gloves
2-3 gloves I am currently using
tees
balls (mostly good 'gamer' balls, but also have some old 'shag' balls
a couple pencils
Several ballmarkers and hat clips for ballmarkers
several ballmark repair tools
GPS abbreviation reference card
club cleaning brush (clipped on outside)
Ball marking sharpies (one clipped on outside/one inside -both red)
ball cleaner towel (which on really muddy days I carry in my left pocket)
bug spray
sunscreen

sometimes in bag:

umbrella
winter golf gloves
bag rain cover
gum, cough drops, Advil

Stuff I always carry on me during round:

3 golfballs in right pocket (prefer different numbers in case I need provisional, so it's easier to identify as provisional)
several tees of different lengths in right pocket
ballmarker on hat clip
ball mark repair tool in left pocket (and ballmarker when I'm not wearing cap)
GPS in case on belt (always on right side)

All of this stuff is a big reason why I do not carry my bag. I know I do not need to have all of this stuff with me all the time, but it's there when I need it. I have a large cart bag and it carries all of this stuff in a neat and organized manner so I never have trouble finding anything. I always either ride or use push cart (new ClicGear 2.0 cart for this year).

I don't really carry too much out of the ordinary in my bag.

1- An Irish Golf Blessing. I haven't played a decent round without it in my bad. Not Joking, might be because I am Irish...who knows.

2- A quarter that I had in a pile of change that I brought back from Belfast when I was there. Has straight edges, like a octagon.

3- A rule book

4- A nutrigrain bar and a banana.

5- A monk bag cover...covers the whole bag (I Recommend this if something is looking for a great bag cover for when it rains)

Plus the usual - balls, tees, etc.

Over the years I have stripped down my bag to the very basics, especially with the advent of the zero restriction tees and magnetic ball marker. I only need a couple of tees, divot repair tool, balls, maybe a clif bar.

The only addition I have aside from the usual golf stuff is a silver 3 leaf clover that my parents brought back from Ireland for me. I keep it hooked up to where my towel ring is so I can rub it easily for good luck.

nothing out of the ordinary in my bag: clubs, two or three sleeves of golfballs, bag of tees. my mother got me a swiss army golf-knife for christmas that i keep on my keychain - has a small knife, divot repair, club cleaner, magnetic ball marker, even a pen for if you lose your regular pencil/pen for keeping score. it's the greatest little gizmo ever.

Just about everything but the kitchen sink in my big ole honkin' staff bag.

The only thing that's different and really matters to me though is the old divot repair tool that I've had for 30+ years. Don't know what I'd do if I lost that silly thing.

One thing you'll never find in my bag is a white tee. No rational explanation, just won't use one.

I found out about this through WHAT's IN THE BAG - Stewart Cink

I hate having things in my pocket so i try to keep as little as possible. 1 tee in the left and divot repair with ball mark in the right. Ball is in the fairway or on the green ; ) As far as in my bag, my staff bag I have pretty much everything rule book, yardage books for various courses, tees, a lot of balls, swing weight, jacket, extra towel, tape, waters, sandwich, cant think of anything else right now.

For my carry bag I try to keep it light, jacket, few extra balls, and some tape.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
