played a round today and missed like 10 putts from 6-12 feet by a 2 inch radius. IMO I dont think this is a bad thing, but not what I am used to. I would have expected to make 4 to 5 of them, the way I was stroking the ball.

The longest putt made was 9 footer on a side slope. So like 1 out of 11.

This has to be the first time I played a round and came so close on so many long putts. I missed none from 5 feet or less (7 putts)

Is this normal or is it just bad luck?

1. Make a conscious effort to leave yourself below the hole on your approaches and chips.

2. Practice putts from the 6-12 ft. distances. (obv)

Other than that, take it one at a time - each putt is a different challenge and today's correlation might not have a general cause...meaning that there are reasons why you missed the individual putts, but perhaps not an all-encompassing reason for the rough run of it. =)

There's your problem. The only times an average players makes 4 out 6-12 putts is withing 3 feet. Be happy you were missing them close.

7 putts! What did you shoot?!?!?!

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

I shot a horrid 98. GIR was the culprit and blew up 4 holes. I did a bit of research and read that I should be making %25-40Max from 6-12 feet at my HI. A scratch friend of mine told me I should be happy none missed by more than 3 inches. I have to account it to a bad day they just werent finding the hole, he says I must not be reading the greens that bad if the radius of misses was so small. they just werent dropping. Most came up short by 2 inches.

    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
